of course

boy do i wish we had a 1,000 yard reciever who was good for 10 plus td every yr instead of having to use a low pick on a rookie to provide help

if we only had had that around here... oh wait!

Save it. That player caused more harm than good otherwise his QB would be crying bloody murder to the media right now...

If our draft last year wasn't a fluke and we can continue to use good judgement this season: I say draft one in the mid rounds. There are nice possibilities in the middle rounds guys. The free agent option is OK, but slim pickings right now. Here's Mayocks top 5:

Wide receivers
1 *Michael Crabtree Texas Tech Great ball skills/competitor, questionable long speed
2 *Jeremy Maclin Missouri Explosive R.A.C., production/added value RS
3 *Percy Harvin Florida Big-play ability, durability/usage
4 *Kenny Britt Rutgers Looks like T.O./good route tree, early drops
5 *Darrius Heyward-Bey Maryland H-W-S specimen, inconsistent hands

Britt or Heyward-Bey are possibilities, but I like Harvin myself.........

The more I think about it, I wouldn't hate having Marvin Harrison @ a low cap number. He's no longer a #1, but I think Tony could benefit from having a guy like him to lean on.

We need to find one...but I think we need a small quick one....that can return punts! Our punt return team has sucked for years! Santana Moss type......you know there is always someone hidden in the middle rounds from schools like Everest College of the Sequioas!!!!! lol
Percy Harvin of Florida.

He will be long gone before we're able to pick.
well isnt he projected in the 20's? to be honest i havent followed the draft closely at all this year so i'm not sure. the Cowboys play in december zapped my football energy for this offseason haha. I think McClain would be a player worth trading up for and we have a lot of draft picks to play with...

Heyward-Bey is the kind of player I think we'll look at.

Getting Hurd back and putting Austin on the field more, giving some looks to F Jones in the slot, and some extra passes to M Bennett, and I think we're fine. My only concern is a back deep threat that knows the system in case something happens to Austin mid-year.

I want Travis Beckum at WR. He ran a 4.6 a few days ago at 80%, and at 6'3 230something. He has Irvin-like hands.

Otherwise, Hakeem Nicks would sure be nice. He ought to go in the 1st round, though.

I Do. do you?

I agree.
Bring in T.O. for a physical and a look-see.

Failing that, go to the draft and groom him for the required 2 years.
In the meantime, RW/Witten/Austin will have to get the job done with assists from Bennett and Hurd.
Forget Crayfish.

He can't. We're doomed. See the thread announcing it.

It's all in the plan to nab Tebow, once we get Tebow we will instantaneously become a dynasty.

Percy Harvin of Florida.

Harvin intrigues me but a receiver from Florida automatically throws up the red flag.

He is a explosive guy though and we need as many explosive players we can find with the void that Owens left.

Crab, Mac, DHB, and Harvin will ALL be loooooooong gone before we pick. They will be soooo long gone that it is not even realistic to think about trading up for these guys.

MB3, Felix, Choice, RW, Witten, Bennet, Crayton, Austin and Hurd is more than enough, especially considering we should be running more this year. But factoring in the inevitable injury or two, it wouldnt hurt to get a Roscoe Parrish type.

Johny Knox, Tiquan Underwood, Mike Wallace.........Pat White

What is the cap hit for trading crayton - Can we trade ellis and crayton and pick up a decent pick with the two packaged along with one or two lower picks?

Ive seen this asked a few times and still no answers.

Odds might be slim, but it would seem to fit into the sthu off-season.

Barring a huge hit, choose your favorite Miami deal. Ellis, Crayton and a 6th for a 3rd and next years fifth.

We definitely need to draft one as high as possible, this current group hasn't done jack, and I don't anticipate anything changing.

We are looking at a run first offense in 2009, so we are fine with what we have now. This is one of the luxuries that allowed for T.O.'s release.

Do you think our O-Line's run blocking is good enough to go with the run first offense?
