Do you think trading for Quinton Coples is a good idea?

Just speculation on my part that the Jets woud even be willing to trade him, but the consensus among Jets fans is he doesn't fit into their long term plans with Todd Bowles being the coach. Most feel this way because they don't think OLB is his best position and they already have to elite 3-4 ends in Muhammad Wilkenson and Sheldon Richardson. On top of that, he's entering year 4 of his rookie deal (we'll see soon if the Jets pick up the 5th year option) and barring a QB falling to them, they very likely could go OLB in the draft.

If this is a move we can make, I definately think we should. Most would agree that he was really playing out of position in a 3-4, but he was still some what successfull, notching 6.5 sacks this past season (4.5 in 13' and 5.5 in 12'). I think he could make a huge impact playing SDE for us and is a far better option than anything we can draft.

As usual, it all depends on what we would have to give up. Chances are that the Jets would want more than I would be willing to give up.

fwiw, a lot of Jets fans seem to think his value is around a 3rd/4th round pick. and while I would not give up a 3rd, I'd trade a 4th in 2014 plus a conditional pick in 2015.

I woukd give a 5th this year with a conditional 5th 4th in 2016. I'm not giving alot.

Not worth a top 3 round pick

He would walk onto the Cowboys as their best DE. For a fourth rounder? No hesitation.

yea, his under achieving 6.5 sacks would be the team lead. But I also think he would do great against the run as well.

Somehow, I think Marinelli would get the most out of him. He's a genius in that area. The defense lacks talent, but they are never outworked.

He's been a lazy player everywhere he's been, if you think Marinelli is going to correct that when others couldn't, you're dreaming!

I am more than willing to trade CB Morris Claiborne for Coples. Jets' secondary is pretty bad. Don't know if it is so bad that Claiborne would be considered an upgrade.

And it saves the Cowboys from guaranteeing Claiborne's 2016 salary at $11M for injury.

If they are only renting for a year a 3rd isn't worth it.

I think Coples is better fit for the Cowboys than any DE in this draft . Coples definitely needs a change of scenery but more importantly, a change in scheme. Coples is a pure 4-3 DE.

He could be the next Mincey and then some? Still draft me somebody in the first three rounds...

As I recall... about a year ago the idea of trading him for Claiborne was floated out on CZ. I'm not against it.

Lazy and playing out of position but still racks up more sacks than any other Defender on the Cowboys??? I'll take it. Imagine if Marinelli can light even a small fire under him, never mind playing his natural position.

Would they take Jeff Heath?

Seriously, I'd inquire about him. He'd be a solid LDE for us.
