Do you think we can trade for Crabtree?

Just thinking he's from Texas, probably a big Cowboy fan.

Just saying if he doesn't sign this season, the 49ers can trade his rights when the FA period starts, instead of getting nothing in return for Crabtree re-entering the draft, maybe they can cut their loses and trade Crabtree for a 3rd....

I bet Jerry would give Crabtree top 10 money.

Even though Crab is a primadonna I think he has star status in his future if he goes to the right team.....

No...we won't be trading for him. We still have to give Ware his $$ and Jerry will not want to give Crabtree the money he wants after that.

I have a feeling it would take a high 2nd round pick to get him. The Jets, who supposedly tampered with him, would be interested.

Why would we want to trade for him? It is evident he cares more about money then he does football

interesting concept, but 2 things against that
first, crabtree is going to want top money as you know
next your either going to have to give up a number 1 or 2 for crabtree
along with that can you afford to pay
roy williams 45 m, miles autin, and crabtree top money?

next biggest thing, are you sure crabtee fractural injury is completelly healed?

and if you have to give up a number one pick, that means you gave up 2 number ones for wr again

remember joey galloway fiasco, were still paying for not having those 2 number one picks

i understand your idea and thoughts, but im leary of crabtree

we need a stud offensive tackle that is young and promising
a possible top DE since spears is free agent next year
possible top safety since play of ken hamlin, he might be cut next yr
possible need for top OG, davis and kosier will be past 30
possible need for another cb, newman will be 32 next yr i think

In Crabtree's defense, thats the fans perspective. Look at it if you were him. EVERYONE else is getting a ton of money..if he has a big injury, he probably won't get paid very well in his 2nd contract. You do have to grab as much money as you can. But, he should not get paid more than the people that were drafted in front of him. Thats how the draft works, the lower you go in the first round, the less you get paid..plain and simple. He's trying to defy that logic.

In a fans perspective, everyone thinks he is greedy, just play football. He would still be making a ton more than MOST of the general population..

He can't be traded til March, so it's moot point anyway.

Duh, read what I said, during the FA period, which starts in April.

Remember if he goes back in the draft the 49ers get nothing, so a 3rd and a 5th should be the starting point.... At least they get something in return.

Sorry. I read the first sentence, thought it was a dumb idea and didn't read any further.

The league season is over in March, which i would presume means he is no longer their property and he would reenter the draft. Not sure but that's what i'm thinking.

Crabtree isn't going to be a good pro anyway, he's got JJ Stokes written all over him to me.

Same here.

Why would we want to throw crazy money at a completely unproven player who even if he isn't a bust will never catch more passes in a season than Jason Witten?

We don't need Michael Crabtree or his ego.

Wouldn't make much sense to release TO and then go out and trade for an unproven head case.

Got a feeling the Jets would give a 2nd for him maybe even first if they have a late pick.

The Niners with 3 first round picks:eek:

His rights can't be traded until then but technically he could be traded for before the trading deadline. The 49ers would basically have to allow him and his agent to work out their own trade. If the 49ers agreed upon the terms of the trade, they could sign him to a base contract so that there would be no cap hit once they trade him. The team that received him could immediately rip up the base deal and give him whatever pre-arranged contract they had worked out.

As far as the 49ers accepting a 3rd rounder for him, you are right, they could lose him for no compensation. They seem to be taking a very hardline on this situation though. I read an article where other teams and their GM's were basically ridiculing the 49ers for not signing him. Not for refusing to give in, but for just not getting it done They don't want to set a precedent as the team who gives in to holdouts.

There has been some talk about he could get more money next year if he is drafted higher, which by the way, I don't think he'll go higher next year. Don't forget, he'll never make back the salary and interest off his signing bonus that he would have right now.

Last take, I see a lot of people complaining on here that Crabtree and other athletes are selfish or spoiled if they hold out for more money that they feel they deserve. Am I to believe that all of you at your current and past jobs just accept whatver salary or raise that is being offered to you? No one here has felt they were underpaid and asked for more money?

I thought the same thing.

Actually, they still have his rights up til the draft, also he cannot workout for any team, because like I said he's still property of Denver until draft day....
