We would've drafted Barron & resigned Jenkins?

Im hoping we sign or draft a safety that can start this year but that just brought me to the thought of how our defense would've been last year with barron.

Some people are saying we've invested enough in our DBs but have we really? We have, with our starting 2 corners but haven't even tried upgrading either of the 2 safety positions.

For some reason I'd feel more comfortable if our best 2 players on secondary, was a safety & a corner. Not just the 2 corners like we have now..

Um, no, Jenkins is the inferior CB and is always hurt. Morris is a franchise CB that will be a cornerstone for this organization for many years. Besides, if the Cowboys would have sacrificed a second for a safety, I would have destroyed the TV at the bar where I was watching.

Of course clay is a better CB than Jenkins. Just thinking how our secondary would've looked with a decent safety. For sum reason like I said, I'd rather have my best 2 DBs in the secondary be the number 1 corner & the free safety. & I only mentioned resigning Jenkins because he would be our 2nd best corner without clay on the team. In the same hypothetical scenario, I could've mention drafting or signing a CB this off-season & letting Jenkins walk.

Our secondary would have looked abysmal with Scandrick starting most of the season.

For the past few years, various radio hosts (Eatman, Dia Wall, Rob Phillips, Micky) have inferred that Jenkins wanted out of Dallas at all costs. Reason being that he just did not like living there and wanted to live in Florida. I heard talk of this on both the Lunch Break and Talking Cowboys and goes back over 3 years. It was never verified in writing but it was brought up enough times and by different people to make me think that there was truth to it.

If this was the case, then the Cowboys knew this as well and therefore could not count on Jenkins after 2012. Meaning that what you proposed could not happen.

Can't be proven, but if he ends up in TB, Miami or Jax, it will add credence to it.

Jenkins is always banged up & he was going to be looking for top $ money like Carr and Finnegan received, + we have Morris on his rookie contract which isn't bad. Kenny Vaccaro is a pretty dang good safety & if we draft him, you shouldn't be disappointed. Cooper-Warmack-Floyd likely won't fall to 18, so we'll see what happens if Vaccaro and Richardson are there.

Jenkins is not the type of person that you want to give a big contract. He may turn out to be a great player, but I just don't trust his character.

Knowing this info along with his injury issues and attitude after drafting a first round CB, it really brings up the total lack of judgement that Dallas used when they turned down the trade offer from the Colts. Now he walks away with Dallas getting nothing in return. It is possible that four former first round picks will walk away this offseason.

I don't worry too much about draft picks leaving after their 1st contract. The biggest value of the draft pick is what they contribute during that 1st contract.

The Cowboys signed Carr to the 2nd contract instead of Jenkins. That's a wash, IMO. They could probably sign some decent RBs to the same contract that Felix would have received if he was great.

Either way we weren't going to the Super Bowl. I don't mind moving on from Jenkins.

You can't maintain a solid core in a team without second contract players. There is no way. These first round picks should be the core.

What was the trade offer again?

Possibily, hindsight after all is 20/20 and if I knew we'd replace Rob with Kiffen, I wouldn't be against it

There is not a scenario plausibile that would make me consider this

I don't think so. Still doesn't make the OL any better.

Yea, i mean a guy who plays an entire season with a seperated shoulder.. you know. Gotta really question how good of a teammate somebody like that is.
