Do you think Williams beats out Austin before the end of the year?

Name a single WR who has produced so poorly for so long who is considered elite? .

Who said anything about him being elite?

He'll be a beast in 4 WR sets! In shotgun and in hurry up. I don't think he beats out Harris though. Harris has been money and I think you go in with him as the 3WR.

The reason they got him is so Austin can move to the slot on three receiver sets.
That will happen some for sure, but they got him becasue he was the BPA and they had no other outside WRs on the roster.
It was an area of vulnerability when Miles and/or Dez went down.

On that infamous drive vs Washington at the end of the season, both Miles and Dez were out (Harris too) and Dallas was royally hosed.

You can put Dwayne Bowe, Kenny Brit, Plaxico, Vincent Jackson, Santana Moss, Mike Wallace, Boldin....take your pick, all have been paid as a star and none have performed as such, and these are all active players, to list all players ever would take it's own thread.

sigh... it is sad people post inaccurate info.

Bowe: 6 years (not 7) with 3 1000 yard seasons and a 4th at 995 yards.
Kenny Britt: 4 years.. not a star. Only a marginal player. makes 1.3m this year....
Plaxico Burress: Through 7 seasons he had 3 1000 yards season and another of 980. No one says Plaxico is elite now. He played 3 games all last year.
Jackson: Interesting because he came out of Miles draft class. Has 4 1000 yard seasons in previous 5 years. The one year he failed he only played 5 games due to injury.
Santana Moss: 4 1000 yard seasons. Who considered him a star? He never made huge money. He was at 5m per year at the height if his pay and the Skins constantly tried to upgrade.
Mike Wallace: He has been in the league 4 years and AVERAGES a 1000 yards per year.
Boldin: He had 5 1000 yard seasons in his first 7 years. Been to a couple Super bowls as a starter.

Please don't bring weak nonsense like this.

People are concerned with starter at WR and I'm happy that we have at least 4 guys who can go out and make plays for us at WR. I don't know if Williams beats out Austin, if Austin can stay healthy I would think his skills and experiance will allow him to hold on to the starting role but I think if a team can have guys they can rotate in and out of the game you keep the core fresh and healthier for the season.

I would like to think Williams can come in and keep the offense rolling instead of what we got out of guys like Ogletree when he came into the game.

this... and you can add save money in 2014 when Miles' salary goes to 5.5m.

i would have released Miles this year as a designated June 2nd cut.
instead they restructured him again.

Miles has elite potential but has very seldom met it. He isn't a spring chicken and is one of those guys who has moved to los angeles for the off-season.

Doubt he'll have to. He wasn't drafted to be #4.

Exactly, you don't draft #4 wideouts in the 3rd round.

As for Austin, unless he has a monster year and leads the league in TD receptions, he is good as gone next year. If you want to know why, go look at Austin's base salaries the next couple of years.

With players like Dez and Sean Lee needing new contracts over the next couple of seasons, Austin is the odd man out. We got Williams on a 4 yr rookie deal that is dirt cheap compared to Austin's.

Bottom line is Williams was drafted to be the number 3 this year and take over the number 2 spot next year. Your starting wideouts will be Dez and Williams in 2014.

It is very uncommon for a Rookie WR to become a starter in his rookie season, even with injury. I would seriously doubt if Williams were a starter in this league by his rookie year. Now, lets not get crazy and say that if he starts a game or two, due to injury, he's the starter. Even that is unlikely IMO but if that happens, that does not mean he's a starter. Just means he's been pressed into action because of injury.

I don't think he will be a starter in his rookie year.
