I believe he will be back but I don't think it is good for the Cowboys. So, NO, I don't want him back. It is time to move on.

I have changed my mind.

My initial thoughts/reaction was to keep him.... but that was predicated on the hope that he would do things differently next year.... ITS DREAMING on my part... he hasnt changed in all this time... he wont next year.

Tough question. I feel strongly both ways.:

After yet another December swoon, this time when we were healthy, I'm reluctantly ready for change. I know Jerry's track record is not great but I just can't see how another underachieving year followed by uncertainty helps. Let's look forward and go with a younger guy.

I honestly don't think NEW blood will be brought in. Chances are very high that if he stays one of the existing defensive coaches will be promoted to DC.

There may be a slight chance they bring in someone from outside but it would be someone he has worked with before.

I would love the idea of bringing in someone who knows the 3-4 like LeBeau, Phillips or someone along those lines to be the new DC, but chances are that will not happen.

However my initial reaction would be Yes...ONLY because I have the feeling that the HC that Jerry would bring in would be someone not worthy of the HC job IMO. Plus the idea that it may be a one year stop gap HC while Jerry waits until next year for someone like Lovie Smith or Bill Cowher. If that is true that it would be a one year stop gap coach than I would be in favor of just keeping Bill for one year.

I think this is a correct assumption as well.

I was extremely pleased that Zimmer decided to go elsewhere, but soured a little after hearing that Paul Pasqualoni or Todd Bowles are likely successors.

But as I suspected anyway, Zimmer was just executing Parcells' defensive gameplan.

If Parcells is back, expect more of the same.

I agree with what all of you are saying. I think that he deserves to stay at least next season. He can still help some of our young players grow into the team that we want to see playing 3 or 4 years from now. He has layed an excellent foundation to build on!

I guess those of us who want him gone really don't...

BILL PARCELLS IS NOT A SAINT. From Eric of Baxter Springs, Kan.: "Why does Bill Parcells escape criticism for the mediocre play of his Cowboys teams? There wasn't a game over the last month and a half of this past season when he had the team ready to play. He led some great Giants teams in the '80s, some good Patriots teams in the '90s, some almost-good Jets teams after that, and now he can barely keep a talented Dallas squad above .500. Am I the only Cowboys fan that would like to see him go?''

Yes.

One of the biggest reasons I want Bill back is that I don't trust Jerry Jones to find anyone better. Also, I may be in the minority but I don't consider Bill a bad coach. I think if we can get someone at DC who understands the 3-4 I think this will be a much better team. Our drafts since Parcells got here have been VERY good, and this team will only get better next season, IMO.

I agree Im getting tired of all the promoting from within. Its a novel concept but its time to bring in some fresh faces. Its hard to get excited about Todd Bowles as our new defensive coordinator.

I voted yes, for the same reason.

Some team is going to make a great head coaching hire this off season, but it will have to be with some coach who wasn't much of an obvious choice.

I don't like Jerry's chances in that kind of climate.

No way. "He's a bum, a tomato," as Mick would say in Rocky. However, I'm afraid he will be back and we'll have another 7-9 to 9-7 no playoff or one and done season. That's the best it'll ever get with that con man.

While I don't want Parcells to go , I also don't think he is immune from criticism . The thing I criticise most about him is the job he has done with the coaching staff . I don't care who you are or what profession you are in , you are still only as good as those who surround you .

Cowher had his Ken Whisenhunt and Dick LeBeau . Schottenheimer has his Cam Cameron and Wade Phillips . Brian Billick has his Rex Ryan . Lovie Smith has his Ron Rivera . Tony Dungy has his Tom Moore . Bill Parcells had...Mike Zimmer and Tony Sparano ???

He obviously had a real find in Payton , but just couldn't keep a hold on him . While I blame he and J. Jones for not doing a better job of addressing this , it's also hard to make wanted assistants stay in place . As for the rest of the organization , I think he has done a teriffic job ! Dallas is talented and young at nearly every position on the roster .

I believe that Parcells tries to do too much with the team on his own and does not give enough responsibility to his assistants . Maybe it's a trust issue ! Maybe it's a stubborness issue ! Either way , the team has not been prepared to play the way that they should . I believe that more trust and more responsibility on the shoulders of your offensive and defensive coordinators could fix this problem .

I like Sparano and can't complain too much about the # of points Dallas put up this year , but they still failed to attack the weakness of opposing teams on a regular basis . Either he needs to have his duties cut in half from being Asst. Head Coach/Offensive Line/Running game , or Dallas needs to bring in a young offensive mind out of the NCAA . Somebody like Steve Sarkisian from USC , Dan Mullen from the University of Florida , or Jimbo Fisher from LSU . Either way , Dallas needs a true full-time offensive coordinator and a true full-time offensive line coach .

On the defensive side of the ball I see no reason to beat a dead horse , so I won't . Zimmer has moved on and needs to be replaced . Personally I think that this replacement needs to be the caliber of our next head coach . A guy like Rob Ryan from Oakland who has had success in both the 3-4 with the Patriots in 2000-2003 and the 4-3 with Oakland in 2004-2006 . Or a guy like Mike Smith who also had success in both the 3-4 with Baltimore in 1999-2002 and the 4-3 with Jacksonville in 2003-2006 .

I like Parcells.

When we signed him I was thrilled, ... I never dreamed that after 4 yrs I would be disappointed.

No playoff wins, no division titles, owned by a divisional rival, one season with double digit wins.

I'm disappointed.

We could do worse, but we could do better.
