Just when you thought the situation in Washington couldn't get any weirder, this gets dropped on us. So for those who weren't paying attention, let me some up the last 2 weeks or so.

-RG3 looks completely lost in a preseason game against Detroit and leaves with what announcers said at the time was a shoulder injury (no significant blow to the head happened on that play). Announcers later say he is going through the concussion protocols.
-RG3 is cleared for non-contact drills early in the week and when questioned about the concussion, he says something along the lines of, "I don't know if I had a concussion, you have to ask the doctor." He went on to clarify that he was in the locker room when they told him he had to go through the protocols. Throughout the week, Gruden and everyone indicates that the "Independent Specialist" is saying Griffin will be cleared and be able start against Baltimore.
-Friday afternoon, after all the local sports talk radio shows go off the air, it is released that Griffin has not cleared the concussion protocols that the "Independent Specialist" put him through and will be evaluated again in a week or so and that Kirk Cousins will start on Saturday.
-Prior to the game on Saturday, ESPN begins reporting that Cousins will actually get the nod in week 1 of the regular season. And after the game on Saturday, Gruden announces that Kirk will start the entire 2015 season, claiming it's "his team."
-Team maintains that all week the "Independent Specialist" who works for the NFL, not them, indicated that everything looked good, then on Friday, it didn't.
-GM Scot McLoughan's wife starts spreading rumors that her husband was ESPN's source as he was giving the information to his new side chick.
-The "Independent Specialist" resigns from his post...

To me, this just screams of Snyder's involvement. It's no secret that Gruden think Cousins and McCoy are better QBs and it's also no secret that Snyder is a huge fan of Griffin. Instead of letting the football people make a football decision, it seems that there may not have been a concussion or at the very least the decision to hold him out was not a medical decision, but instead was the only way Gruden and possibly McLoughan could get away with starting Cousins over RG3.

This doctor resigned, but will stay on to determine when Griffin will be cleared to play.

Do we have a linguistics forum? Is "side chick" new or has it been hanging around for 300 years?

I never thought he had a concussion because I never saw him get hit in the head on the play and Griffith has never admitted he had one. I have no doubt that someone from the skins exerted heavy pressure on this doctor. You don't give up gigs like that. He was probably asked to something that put is medical license in jeopardy.

One does not to be hit in the head to get a concussion. The whiplash effect from a hit or hitting the ground can bounce the brain around enough to cause a concussion. Plus he was getting hammered that whole game. I've never seen a QB get hit so much and so hard during a pre-season game.

I understand, but I didn't really see any of that on the play. Add in all that has happened since, and it's very fishy.

If he sustained a concussion, it was one of five hits he took before the fumble. Some of those were tough to watch and he definitely could've sustained a concussion on one of those and no one was aware.

I agree with that. The shot he took from the blitzing player coming from the left was straight up wicked.

That is the one that stands out in my mind. It looks like the blitzer made contact with his torso/rib cage but the speed and force of the hit knocked him out of the frame immediately. I can see his head bouncing off the ground upon impact.

Absolutely. Your brain is floating in your skull. That whiplash motion alone can cause a significant brain injury.

Thinking about it...
Why did the Skins not trade RG3 to the Eagles.....
They would have gotten Foles and less problems.
