It just seems to me that other teams appear to be more active then us. And no, I don't mean we should run out and sign lot of players & overpay them. We don't need add a lot of players and some that are out there wouldn't help us anyway or they cost much more then Jerry should contemplate paying. I guess I just feel down cause it seems to be so quiet at VR except for the Davis thing. At least Gramatica should be signed this weekend--at least according to his agent--that makes me happy & prevents me from going into total depression. It's just that the news from VR about any interesting goings on is almost non existent.

I guess I have the feeling that the Cowboys again-- just like last year-- under estimated how quickly they would have to act.

I'm sure part of that is the need select a new HC and get his staff in place and then--wham--FA hits. I don't have high expectations about what Cowboys would do in FA. In fact all I wanted was an upgrade at OG & a backup QB and also that we re-sign our own players like we appear to be doing with Gramatica but not yet with Colombo. And I know it still entirely possible we will re-sign Colombo & even also got Davis or another young OG whose an upgrade.

It's just as I sit here in Tampa on a rainy evening far away from what's going on at VR this weekend, I'm concerned that the right side of our OL may be going backwards instead of forwards. I tell myself it's only 2 days into FA and what the freakin do I expect in that time. I guess I just wanted 1 tidbit of good news. Oh well, I'll guess the supposed re-signing of Gramatica this weekend will have to do but frankly that wasn't what I thought would be the highlight of what we've done so far.

Hopefully in 2-3 days the situation will be changed and something will have been done which will have me jumping for joy but I get depressed when things are in flux for my Cowboys. Maybe tomorrow or Monday will bring some good news.

I still think there's a good chance we sign Colombo.

And there's probably a 50-50 chance we sign Davis (Cowboys vs. Skins).

And I'd like to get the Gramatica thing done with as well.

theirs not many free agent that I want, all we need really is a back-up qb, k, and OL help... I think we go CB, WR, and OL 1st 3 rounds of draft

But seriously, who have we lost out on that we REALLY thought we were going to get?

I don't think most on this Board thought we'd sign Dielman or Steinbach. We hoped, but all along, that was about it.

The big disappointment, for me atleast, was not being able to lock up Colombo before FA started.

But so far, I haven't felt we've lost out on a player we were expecting to sign. Of course, if Colombo signs elsewhere, I'll feel differently, because I don't see as good a replacement right now in FA.

Youd think that with this happening for year after year that people would finally get it. the only way that you sign someone in the first two days of free agency is to offer them a deal that they cannot refuse. Otherwise any intelligent agent will take advantage of FA and test the market.

and you would think any intelligent person could distinguish between a discussion of needs in a particular area of the football team with out making innuendos that they are a bunch of stupid butts and do not know what's going on.

That's ridiculous also.

I am not that concerned on who we failed to get but who we failed to keep. Or at least keep from wandering.

Yes, Colombo is the main concern for me. I wish we had locked him up before FA began. But I'm still hoping JJ is just letting Colombo find his market value, and then JJ will decide whether to match or not.

I think Gramatica gets done.

I agree....Not locking up Colombo was the only mistake to this point. We got Gurode down before the deadline. Which right now is being underestimated...That was a huge move, had he hit the market, his price would have been higher...And they already over paid for him.....But all these players that have signed with other teams, none of them we were targeting....So the market did not move to fast for the Cowboys...They were prepared this year

Until the opening bell sounded and then they were over-run on the stock market floor.

You can poke fun of it beforehand. You can make bets on who will go first (via PM). We could even have made a forum pool as to how many hours it goes before it happens.

But ya just can't stop it.
