In the Houston area, KHOU CBS has been pulled from the air, because of some money disagreement between CBS and Dish Network. I am flabbergasted that a major network could let negotiations go this far. I am just wondering if this is only in the Houston area (KHOU) or if it is all local CBS networks, because the Dish guy kept saying a very generic and vague, "your local station", or something like that. If it were only KHOU, wouldn't he have said, "you're KHOU station"?

He also said that "your local station has blocked Dish Network from showing you any other CBS feed." WTH??

I am also wondering, what in the hell are we going to do on Sunday now?? We play the Patriots!! We will not get to see it now, if Dish and CBS doesn't get their stuff together!

I had it happen in LA on Comcast. CBS is always doing this in some city to some cable company. It took about 4 months to get things straightened out.

CBS also charges to watch episodes online, they are getting out of control........greedy!

They sure as heck are, Dexter! Do you know that in a tv show on CBS that takes 60 minutes, we actually only get about 37 to 42 minutes of program now? At least during the day, that is the case. In fact, on a show I watch during the day, it is a 30 minute program, but we only get 19 to 21 minutes of actual show, depending on the day. The rest is all commercials. It is such a shame that 85-90% of the shows I watch on tv are on CBS. They are more greedy than the off channels, that actually Need the money from commercials to survive.o_O

ETA: In fact, my 30 minute show actually has to cut out a whole segment of show that the people in Europe get to see, just to make room for the commercials here in America. We only get to see the cut out segment as a bonus clip online. That is disgusting. They really should be ashamed. But, as money goes, they are not.

Not gonna argue about their greed, but that is the norm for all TV shows no matter the broadcasting company. Every show has around 43 minutes of program and 17 mins of commercials.

I watch a lot of them on-demand and that is normal for every station. What makes it worse is that you can't FF through most of them like it was on a DVR, heh

It is not CBS per se, it is a broadcast company called Tegna, they handle locals that are re-broadcasted for Dish,Direct TV and I think a few other cable distribution. Here in Dallas it is one local which is WFAA the ABC affiliate, it will go off air. I am pretty use to the brinksmanship deal in their idiotic negotiation games, the last time this happened it was Cartoon Network as the last two episodes of Attack on TItan were about to be aired and they were off air for I think at least a week. As soon as I saw it I got on the internet and watched those episodes on Japanese subs. This is why so many people are quitting cable and finding custom PC and streaming solutions, even if they have to miss major events or live showings, or have to watch crappy resolution feeds online.

Hope you get things worked out so you can watch the game somehow.

As for cable companies what I think of them isn't fit for print, at least here.

I hear ya, man. They are all greedy, but I really think CBS is worse. That's probably because I watch more CBS, lol. When I am on regular tv, I either record on DVR or just hit the pause button, so I can skip over all the commercials. Yes, they are all greedy now days, I know. I really miss the 70s and 80s, before all of the little local companies and the greedy medicine companies and lawyers discovered the convenience of tv advertising and massive overkill took effect. Sad. These times. Whatever. Love my fast forward button. lol. But if we can't get the station, we can't see anything! Ugghh!

I should also say, get a digital antenna and watch it on the air/antenna input on your TV just tune into whatever the number of the station is for CBS.

Most of my shows are CBS too. If I miss an episode, I have to pray that it is available on-demand........a lot aren't.

Yes, I remember the Cartoon Network Blackout! There were a few other channels blacked out at the same time. Boomerang I think, among others?? That caused some chaos in our house. lol. Luckily, it was resolved quickly. But I just can't believe a major network like CBS would put us through this. I am just really shaking my head on this one. Really sad. And really freaking out, because we NEED CBS for the Dallas game on Sunday!

And I NEED to see what happens to Adam and his jail time on those trumped up charges on Young and The Restless on Monday, and dayam, Gwen really needs to turn Neil's butt in for kidnapping Hillary! :p:mad::cool::D

I do appreciate ya, MonsterD, letting me know about the sub-let format going on. I had no idea about that. Maybe they need to just cut this middle man out, huh?? Makes sense to me. But what do I know? I am just a lowly, simpleton consumer, with no business sense. lol.

I guess we might just have to all crowd in front of the big computer for this game. I really hate that. It is so hard on my back, sitting in a hard wooden kitchen chair for 3 1/2 hours! I could just stand up, I guess. lol.

Hopefully, we can find a good link, PJ. Looks like we might be going this route. Pre-season, it is cool, but regular season games, it just sucks.:(

I live in the Montgomery/Lake Conroe area. Fortunately I have a digital receiver (on my dish reciever and another one for my projector) with an outside antenna. Do you happen to have a tv with a digital receiver? You could put some kind of antenna (even a small rabbit ears type) on it and probably get KHOU or possibly even KBTX (Bryan/College Station). KHOU digital channel is 11.1 (vhf signal), KBTX digital channel is 50.1 (uhf signal)

Out here in CA, it is the ABC affiliate that they pulled. I said in another thread, now is a good time to negotiate with Dish for a lower Monday monthly bill especially if you have been a loyal customer and paid your bill consistently on time. Dish doesn't want to lose customers.

I have just recently left Dish and went with Direct TV because of Dish's inability to keep channels on the air. They know when a contract is running out with a network, but they always have problems getting a deal done on time. It really ticked me off because I had to pay for the channels that I wasn't getting.

Well, thank all of yall for your help. :)

We went out yesterday and bought a digital antenna, and after a day and a half of playing with it, re-adjusting, re-scanning, etc., we FINALLY got CBS, just moments ago. We actually had to get an extension cable and put it outside, through the window, to make CBS come in. We are not touching it now, until after the game! lol. Rock on....

Go Cowboys!:starspin:

ETA: Oh yeah, forgot to mention how clear the picture is. It is fantastic! Can't even tell it's not satellite. Saw in the other thread on FZ, something about the picture is not compressed, like it is on satellite. Well, they are right. It's a great picture.

Well look at that. Not 30 minutes after we finally get a signal with our antenna we bought just for the game, and fiddling with it for 1 1/2 days to make it work on channel 11, DISH and CBS now decide to get their heads out of their butts, and they have reached an agreement. An hour before the game starts, and CBS is now back up and running on DishNetwork!

I don't know whether to shake my head or jump for joy.:laugh:
