Does anyone think JJ Wilcox will get benched?

No. People tend to forget Wilcox played safety just one year in college and had an injury interrupt his rookie season a year ago. Let's give this kid a little more time; because he's a faster and much more athletic option back there than Jeff Heath.

This is exactly the reason he shouldn't be starting right now. But the team seems to like throwing "trainees" into the fire without having proven themselves...

Forget fast and athletic. I want some football players.

And no, I'm not implying Heath would be better right now either

All I see here is a bunch of guys mouth breathing behind computers with no understanding of the game of football.

I'm mouth-breathing now that I see you with the Ware avi.

Not a good look for an admitted Cowboy fan.

You a fan of our Team or a player?
Man- this is disappointing to me: you are one of the ones I respected as a COWBOYS fan.

RW31, Tony Dixon, Hamlin, Church (yes, him. He's a slower RW31), Heath, Johnson, Sensabaugh, Watkins, Ball, Smith, Owusu-Ansah and perhaps, Wilcox.

When will this dearth ever end?

But no, not according to some fans. We shouldn't be frustrated at all.

Ga southern is not a d2 school smh. Sun belt conf is a D1 school. Meanwhile, Heath went to Saginaw Valley which is a D2.

Every single draft source thought he would go around where we took him. Your post couldn't be any more incorrect.

This is Georgia Southern's 1st year in the Sun Belt. When Wilcox was there they played in the FCS Southern Conference. Might wanna check your facts before you call people out....

And I'm aware where the experts had him projected, doesn't make the idea of drafting him as a starting S any less stupid. It was indeed WAY too early to draft such a project for a team that needed an immediate contributor. I don't see how you can even argue this. And please don't make me google for old threads in the draft zone before you say something about hindsight.

I have a lot of respect for DeMarcus Ware. He's forever a Cowboy.

I can dig it.
I respect you as an honest and terrific poster.

I retract anything that might be construed as offensive.

I don't see eye-to-eye on that- I root for the team as it is playing the year it is playing, but I get honoring former players for the team that gave their all

Salute.

Fcs Southern is still Division 1AA, not division 2. And they played big schools every year that he was there. He played at a much higher level than Heath did. Your comment on that was completely wrong.

The other safeties available at the time were guys like Phillip Thomas and Bacarri Rambo. Taking Wilcox who shined at the senior bowl and has every tool you could want in a safety in the round he was projected to go was not a bad choice. Patience is a virtue. People thought Church was a scrub not long ago. HHeath looked utterly lost and incapable of making a play over and over again last year. He is a ST ace, and thats probably his ceiling. We need to just be patient.

1AA will always be D2 to me, they lost me with all of these sub division name changes....and Georgia Southern plays a crap schedule, stop that non sense.

And I have no idea why you keep mentioning Heath in reference to me. I never once mentioned him and don't particularly want to see him play either. I'm harping on the front office's inability to get an actual NFL FS on the field and how bad of an idea drafting JJ Wilcox and expecting him to play right away was. Patience and development shouldn't be at the expense of the team. That should be done on the practice field and film room....and I don't think its Wilcox's fault or he is destined to be a bad player or anything, he just shouldn't be playing full time right now. It's the other JJ that I blame.

I saw all I needed to from Heath last year. Keep Wilcox in, take your lumps.

I'm usually not about rooting for former players after moving on from us. The only exceptions for me have been Emmitt and Ware.

Like I said- I can dig it.

I can totally get the fans that rooted for E Smith when he joined the Cards.
I didn't and I was there before his rookie season. I appreciated what he did for this franchise, BUT:

I root for the Cowboys.
Not any one player because this is not basketball.

This is even more of a team game than that sport.
I root for my TEAM and hope that they play like a TEAM.

When a player is gone from my TEAM- they are gone.

I may be in the minority- I have seen several posters say in the past that they would like so-and-so get to the Superbowl with whoever they got with, but I'm not like that.

I want the COWBOYS to go to the Superbowl.
And win it.

I don't care who is on the team, unless it's Ray Hitler Jihad I-Punch-You Rice beating his wife's way to it.
Yeah- that was harsh, but I want my TEAM to win.

I don't root for Ware. I don't root for M Jenkins. I don't root for Newman- unless they are making plays for MY COWBOYS.

Otherwise- I can respect for what others root for.
My best friend is from Philly and a life-long Eagles fan.

I respect his fanhood, but we talk ish almost everyday to each other and believe me-
He doesn't root for D Jackson to ring, or any other former Eagle's player.

Nor would I expect him to.

I could not agree more. I root for the Dallas Cowboys, once you are no longer a Cowboy you are no longer on my radar. No player is bigger than the STAR.

Thank you.
The Star is all to me.
And the Star needs more rings.

I'm pretty sure Jenkins rated out to be one of the worst safeties in the league last year.

How is Wilcox name continuously brought up? Where is the Veteran Church at ????????What has he done at all this year?? They dont make him cover TEs because he cant so Wilcox has to battle with them..thus giving fans something to complain about. How bout we get rid of slowa** Church who isnt a FS and cant cover TEs from SS position. What does Church do for us????????????

People thought Church was a scrub not long ago. HHeath looked utterly lost and incapable of making a play over and over again last year. He is a ST ace, and thats probably his ceiling. We need to just be patient.

I still think hes a scrub. Not complete scrub ok..but I dont want him startin on this team.
