Does anyone think JJ Wilcox will get benched?

with our bad safeties im suprised we didn't keep Ahmad Dixon smh. Yeah he struggled in coverage but which of our safeties doesn't? Ahmad Dixon plays with seahawks secondary type swagger which our secondary needs. I mean really C.J spillman who has been nothing but injured and the guy who got suspended.

I see people calling him out but I don't see examples of poor play mentioned. If you want to complain about him getting beaten when he is in man coverage and without help then I suggest you consider what you think a good success rate given those circumstances should be. If you think he should win that even half the time I recommend a look at league completion percentages and reconsider. He does win a fair bit of the man calls he gets.

No. People tend to forget Wilcox played safety just one year in college and had an injury interrupt his rookie season a year ago. Let's give this kid a little more time; because he's a faster and much more athletic option back there than Jeff Heath.[/quote

Actually, by almost every measurable, Heath is the better athlete.

Claiborne was beaten off the snap twice in cover 3. Wilcox covered for him and made Davis go elsewhere. We saw what Dixon did in similar circumstance with the TD he gave up when Lindsey whiffed in dramatic fashion versus SDG. You then realize that there is 'struggling in coverage' and then there is 'struggling in coverage.'

1AA will always be D2 to me, they lost me with all of these sub division name changes....and Georgia Southern plays a crap schedule, stop that non sense.

And I have no idea why you keep mentioning Heath in reference to me. I never once mentioned him and don't particularly want to see him play either. I'm harping on the front office's inability to get an actual NFL FS on the field and how bad of an idea drafting JJ Wilcox and expecting him to play right away was. Patience and development shouldn't be at the expense of the team. That should be done on the practice field and film room....and I don't think its Wilcox's fault or he is destined to be a bad player or anything, he just shouldn't be playing full time right now. It's the other JJ that I blame.

Ga Southern played Bama in 2011,Uga in 2012 and Florida in 2013. While that isnt the toughest schedule ever, they usually play one top school a year. They are one of the best DIAA schools each year. I understand that he only played S for one season, but this isnt an Akwasi Owusu Ansah project, Wilcox has been significantly better than that draft pick already. Do you see the skills in him? He has the traits, he is just green.

My apologies for the Heath comments, that seemed to be the underlying message in the thread so I thought that was what you were referring to.

Does anyone see him being benched in favor of Heath at some point this season? Or is that just trading one poison for another?

I think when Hamilton comes back from suspension, he is more of a true FS and Church would be that in the box safety.

I'm more disappointed by his tackling. For such a training camp hitter he sure goes for legs alot. I miss 2003 Roy Williams. Smh. People can say safeties like kam chancellor are dead but I don't believe it.

Not hard to believe. There were more big name safeties circa 2005. Now, there's hardly any. Coincidence?

If anyone should be benched its Claiborne. Moore is better in every way.

i would package all kinds of players and a draft pick or two for kam..

he's the best safety in football.

actually...kam and earl are the best safeties in the nfl...and they play on the same team.
