It was always unwarranted. Had McGee, Weeden or who ever gone some place and lit things up, then you'd have a decent argument that Wade sucked. But considering who he's had to work with, I don't see how one could make a sound argument either way. Now with Dak, you have to at least put something on the positive side.

Of course his bad rap here is unwarranted. Honestly, nobody here has ever been in any position to differentiate the impact of Wilson v. Linehan v. Garrett v. Romo. They just thought they were.

But the only argument against the guy has been based on the quality of play of the QBs on the roster, and that has been good for a long time. Now we're seeing that high quality of play from more than one player. In today's NFL, That's rare.

Fair points. I was a Wade hater, but you're right it is near impossible to separate him from the QB situation as a whole. He's done wonderfully well with Dak though.

He's had Romo, McGee, Dak a bunch of UDFA Qb's Such as Showers. And going back Matt Moore. He seems to get a bad rap around here. Is it unwarranted?

I personally never indicted him for not developing UDFA and a 4th round pick. Romo had his best season under Wilson's watch.

Dak learned offense under center under Wilson and we see him improve from game to game as the season goes along. There is no better indication of how a teacher is doing than the performance of their students.

Somebody has, right?

So much goes on developing these players behind the scenes. It's hard to know who's responsible. Just look at what Joe Baker/Greg Jackson have done this year with the DBs. I don't know who's doing what exactly, but somebody's doing something right.

The ease with which Dak Prescott has transitioned into the NFL from Mississippi State hasn't come by accident. And there's been more to it than just talent and hard work.

The Cowboys rookie told CBS Sports' Roughing The Passer podcast that he was exposed to the offensive concepts of Cowboys offensive coordinator Scott Linehan at the college level, and has benefited from the similarity. The connection that brought Linehan's way of thinking into the MSU playbook dated back to 1999.

"I actually think there was one point in time when Linehan was in college, and (Dan) Mullen and Urban (Meyer) were together, that they met up at one point when Linehan was at Louisville," Prescott said. "So maybe that's where it translates or crosses over. A lot of our plays now are plays we ran at Mississippi State."

Linehan was Louisville's offensive coordinator from 1999-2001. Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen and Ohio State's Urban Meyer, who were part of the Notre Dame staff during that time, paid Linehan a lengthy visit to study his offense, per CBS. The connection hasn't been lost on Prescott, who has led Dallas to a 5-1 start to the season with effectiveness at quarterback that's rarely seen from rookies.

"From Day 1 when I go into camp as the third-string guy, the plays were very similar and alike to what we did in college, so I just lucked up on that half," Prescott said

Yeah the DBS have been at a solid level all year. Anthony Brown has been a steal. Quite the contrary to years past with some former coaches.

Side story. My Dad was in the Military reserves for a long time and Wade Wilson's Dad was the top guy (Colonel) at their location for several years. I met the Colonel a few times and he is one of those people that seems to remember everybody that he meets.

This was back when Wade was playing so my Dad was a fan of Wade.

Many years later, I had a longtime girlfriend whose High School principle had been none other than Wade Wilson's father (Colonel Wilson).

Final part of the story, I rode in the elevator at the hotel during training camp with Wade Wilson and Rob Ryan. My GF's son (About 12 at the time said that RR appeared to be pregnant).

Wade does the best he can with the talent he is given. That said, I wish he would retire from coaching as his diabetes health condition has to factor into his workplace. The man has had it a long time and it has to be a constantly tougher battle for him as the years go on.

I'll be happy if Wade can develop him into anything beyond being a game manager.
