Does Demarcus Lawrence start when healthy?

The defense has three sacks in three games. Over the last decade one constant was the pressure provided by Demarcus Ware. Sacks don't always represent the overall success of a defense but it certainly doesn't hurt. Mincey and Selvie have been able to get moderate pressure but I think a spark is needed. When he was drafted it was already asking a lot from Demarcus Lawrence to get double digit sacks as a rookie. Now with his injury it will be even more difficult to get solid production from him.

However, if he is back around week 9 who believes that he will start either immediately or by his second game back? If the Cowboys are in a position to make a playoff run, God willing, they may want to get him in there to provide that spark. What are your expectations for Lawrence at this point? Anything can happen in this game.

i want to see lawrence , sam, insert name so bad it hurts.

someone please compliment this beast of a o- line we got.

i just rewatched the game on replay and one of the luxuries is you can study certain players and such.

our o-line is simply country strong.

damn...i thought i was looking at our o-line from the 90's.

When can we expect him back if all goes accordingly? Week 8?

I would keep Mincey the starter and rotate in the other rushers in passing situations. Whether it's Spencer or Lawrence.

We don't even know what his talent level was before he got hurt, so let's tap the breaks.

Seriously, the guy has never even take a pre-season snap and is going to be facing NFL LT's for the first time who are in mid-season form.

He might be better than what we have now, but I would seriously temper expectations on what he is going to do this year.

After he gets back give him a couple of weeks to knock the rust off. Anytime after that he could start. The way we rotate I'm not sure it really matters that much who starts.

Work him in gradually and then make him a starter. What we've been seeing from the D-line is about what has been expected, but we really haven't faced the repercussions from it because we haven't faced the outstanding qb's in the league. We'll really see what the lack of a pass rush will do next game. I have a feeling Romo will need to put on a similar performance to the one he had against the bronco's last year if we will have any chance of winning.

He can't practice until after week 6 and can't play until week 9. When the injury happened they said it was typically an 8-12 wk recovery period. On Sept 17 there was an update from Todd Archer that said the recovery was going well but that he had not started running yet. Since the injury happened on July 29th, we are at the 8 week point right now. Game 6 is Oct 12, so unless there is some kind of setback, I would think he would be ready to week 9. We would have two games to ease him in (Cards and Jags) and then the bye week, and if he is going to start, I would guess it would come in week 12.
All that being said, I would imagine that he probably won't be named a starter....he will be a pass rushing specialist for this year.

And he's still better than Mincy :p
Mincey has actually played pretty well. Doesn't have the sack numbers but has been more of a pressure player than I expected.

No why they had him trying to drop in coverage against the Rams is another matter...
