The catch last week was obviously one of the best we’ve ever seen and he deserves props for that.
However, aside from that catch, how many jaw dropping/OMG plays have we seen him make this year?
He’s not really a huge leaper like Dez. He’s not a blazing WR like some others. His hands aren’t special based on all the drops.
He has top level agility which helps him on Punt Returns and get open in the slot. But even though he’s put up great numbers and can be a #1 WR on a team, I have been a little disappointed by the lack of highlight reel type plays from him.
If he were a #1 and not much else around him, like when Cooper came in 2018, would he dominate?
The number one priority required for every wide receiver/quarterback exchange is the ball has to be delivered within a catch radius. Not what fans think the catch radius is, but a real, non-super hero catch radius, nor non-Madden cartoonish catch made on a video game.
He plays for a team who has had a MASH unit for an offensive line, a questionable redheaded QB who has never been great, a cast of thousands at QB when the ginger is sidelines with a bump on his head or a chest cold, and his Starting QB is out for the year since game four or five.
In a year that had no preseason games, no real off-season preparation, and regime change.
And yet he has posted more catches as a rookie than any Cowboy over the last sixty years of its existence.
Highlight reel catches come when a team is galvanized into a unit that plays together, and the scheme of the unit is humming on all cylinders.
Or did OBJ set the world on fire with the Browns during his time there?
Disappointment threads weep with sadness and emotion. Mostly linked to facts by the slimmest thread.
