Ok guys, with all the talk that Todd Archer has said as well as cowboys fans about missing OTA's, my question is does T O, Terry Glenn, Roy Williams, & Fergueson really care about team unity, heart, desire to win, because to me, it seems that they dont. You build team chemistry during the offseason, they are the ones that signed the big contracts, said that they loved the Dallas Cowboys, yet at OTA's that are voluntary they dont show up.
To me, its time us fans make our concerns documented to those above mentioned players, why aren't you in these practices learning the new offense and defense systems. Are you another Jeremey Shockey, that refuses to participate, but want to practice in your own home area. Shockey and Burriss WR did that, and the timing with Manning was off.
Even the great Troy Aikman said you need the timing in offseason to get your timing patterns down. So, T O, Terry Glenn, Roy Williams & Fergy why arent you in these offseason workouts getting your new systems down and learning? I question your heart and desire.
Even in the early 70's, Roger Staubach would work out with rookie Drew Pearson, while Rayfield Wright would after pratice, spend an extra hour with Harvey Martin showing him things. If these guys realized that it takes extra work, desire and heart to be champions, what does that say about your desires.
Even Trent Greene QB for the Chiefs was angry at the coach for not allowing a trade to be made during the draft, so he could get in, view the offense, get the timing down with the WRs and TEs, so if he says its very important to get timing down, learn the plays etc, what does that say about your desire and heart to put in the extra work T O, Terry Glenn, Roy Williams & Fergy, while mentioning Julius Jones too, whom has missed some workouts.
Do you really care about being a Dallas Cowboy and care about the fans? Like Roy Williams, each year, he comes in about 242 or so, which we all know, he needs to be about 225 or so, reports are coming out the last few years, that Roy Willliams isnt a dedicated workout warrior to get in top shape. So, what do you say now Roy?

Where in the world did you get any info that these players weren't at the OTAs? Any analysis I've read about these practices state these players were indeed at the OTAs. In fact DMA reported that attendance was 100%.

I question Julius Jones, he says he wants to be a part of the team, but spent the offseason away from the Ranch and has now blown off atleast one OTA. It just goes to show that the key players on our team arent any better than the ones on the Commanders or the Giants at showing up or participating in the offseason.

To Cowboyjoe and others: Just read Mosley article which posted below where I was reading. I do want to point out that these players did attend the first week. However, I also am upset that TO & Glenn failed to attend this week along with William & Ferguson. Particularly disappointed in Ware's absence unless, despite Mosley's bleg, those players had been excused from attendance for some acceptable reason. In other words I don't always believe the media and particularly comment that Garrett has to be concerned/upset (don't remember word used) at failure to attend.

True, some of them may have had an excused absentism. Yet, a whole week of missing OTAs, to me shows lack of desire to be a champion, and willing to put in that work to become that.
Like Marco Riveria whom had back surgery, he was out there on the field, helping rookies like Doug Free & James Marten OT show them little tricks and finer points towards being a NFL offensive line player. Thats what good players do, and team leaders, so I question Terry Glenn, TO, Roy Williams & Fergy, along with Julius Jones desire, and being a team player.
True, its voluntary, but if a team is putting in a new system, offense and defense, if you really cared, to be a Dallas Cowboy, and cared about the fans, and you wanted to be the best there was, you would be in these voluntary pratices OTAs learning and getting ready. True, you might not show up for all practices, but you should show up at least 2 or 3 of them.
Because, players like Burris WR with the Giants now, for past 2 or 3 years didnt show up at pratices OTAs, and the timing was off with him, Shockey and Manning.
Like there were reports that TO didnt catch all of the routes etc, last year. Well, if he is a team leader, a impact player like he said he is, he should be in the OTAs setting an example for the other players. He sure cant complain now, if during the year, he doesnt get some balls thrown at him, if he isnt there in May learning the routes.
One thing I think this team lacks, was heart, desire to win in December, if well known players like T O, Terry Glenn, Roy Williams & Fergy dont show up to set example as team player and show character, then to me, they show their not leaders. That to me is what were missing on defense, especially, like when Dat retired last year, he was a leader, and when Greg Ellis went down with an injury, we really didnt have a team leader on the field.
Thats what I am saying, where is the heart, desire to win, and be a champion? To me its not there, like the great Michael Irwin, whom reports are that T O and Michael are friends. Well, T O, if Michael came in during the offseason, worked his butt off, why arent you? Become a leader, T O and Roy Williams, show me that I am wrong, and you do have character, desire to be the best, in the NFL, or is it just all talk, T O, Terry Glenn, Roy Williams, Fergy and Julius Jones? Just talk, hot air that your blowing and talking. If your going to talk the talk, you have to back it up with action.

This says it all to guys like T O, Terry Glenn, Fergy, Roy Williams and Julius Jones, either you have heart to be the best, or you dont really care about being a champion and paying the price.
Giants unhappy with Shockey, Burress
Posted: Thursday May 31, 2007 07:39AM ET

The Giants held their third team workout of the spring yesterday, but they are still waiting for Jeremy Shockey and Plaxico Burress to participate in their first. Both arrived in New Jersey several weeks ago, played a few days of catch with quarterback Eli Manning and promised to stay for even more. But neither has participated in any of the first three days of organized team activities. Tom Coughlin is powerless to force them to attend, but he did not seem pleased with their absence.

New York Daily News
This is what these guys Burriss, Shockey have done to Manning the last 3 years, and their offensive play has been hurt, by not getting in the timing,, route running etc, during the year. Till guys like T O, Terry Glenn, Roy Williams become leaders, then this team isnt going far in the playoffs.

Its true, the head coach cant make the players come in and work out, they have to want to, if they dont want to, then, their not team leaders, and they dont really care.

Take a Chill Pill, all those players are studs and workout warriors. None have been slackers in preparation and I'm guessing JJ is in the best shape he has ever been in. This team will play hard and be ready to compete this year. Now if we were talking training camp or the mini-camps I'd agree with you. Be a fan and relax for goodness sakes.:starspin

And I know that some of you think we go out of our way to create T.O. news, but when the top two receivers on the team decide not to attend practices under a new regime, I think it's a story.

Though he probably won't acknowledge it publicly, I guarantee you that new head coach Wade Phillips isn't pleased.

guarantee that Wade Phillips isn't pleased? What if Phillips was aware that they weren't gonna make it. Sounds like BSpn is ready to re-stoke up the "Owens vs Coach" thing again. haha

Well it's not the end of the world. But considering we have a new HC, OC, and DC then they all should be there AMAP. It is a tad bit disconcerting. They could have been excused so I see both sides.

Sometimes we assume way too much.

The only fact we have is that several players have missed OTAs.

Without knowing why, what they've been told about attending, etc., we begin assuming they don't care or they are lazy or there's some kind of problem.

I guess jumping to conclusions is just always going to be popular on message boards.
