Does the deal make Minnesota a threat to the Cowboys?

They already had a pretty ridiculous defensive front, and it just got even better. We have a pretty good o-line, but we have been exposed as being vulnerable to pressure and speed on more than one occasion.

I know we don't play Minn this year, and their offense has yet to catch up to their D (their passing offense anyway), but if they get a half decent QB and their young WR's pan out, they could be in the mix very quickly.

if minny can go ride a no name qb to the superbowl, then it will be an even bigger upset than baltimore did with trent dilfer.

Ignoring the ignorant sarcasm of the responses thus far, you are absolutely right. The addition of Jared Allen not only improves their defensive line and pass rush (along with their already superior run stopping ability), but it also instantly makes everyone in their secondary a notch better, even though they signed Madieu Williams to improve the secondary already, who I think is one of the most underrated defensive players in the league. Now, if they add a decent pass catching TE with their 2nd round pick, maybe Fred Davis out of SC, to help in Tavaris' development and give him an outlet he can easily find, not only will their defense be dominant, but with AP and their O-line, their offense will be pretty darn good too. I think they should easily be the favorites to win their division, and maybe one of the top 3 or 4 teams in the NFC.

I'm glad they got Jared Allen. We needed that division to get someone to personally hinder the development of Aaron Rodgers and set the Packers, who are an incredibly young and talented team, back a few years.

Jackson is from a tiny school and was only in his second year. he started to come on at the end of the year and was a huge reason why they went on that run when Peterson went down.

Most here remember how he was against us missing open receivers but he is much better than that now.

Jackson was actually at Arkansas to begin his career, but transferred basically cause of Matt Jones winning the QB spot at that time.

He still spent most of his career at Mid Tenn or wherever it was and thats where he played at. he came out as raw as can be.

It just means that when Minnesota beats GB for their division, and if they get HF advantage, we then play the NFC championship up there,INDOORS!

Minn playoff hope hing on the play of their QB. If they can improve in that area I think Minn will be a real challenge in the NFC.

It makes them a harder team to beat in the regular season, but as long as Jackson is their QB we don't have to worry cause they're not going to be in the playoffs with him at the controls.

If they don't, it's only because of QB. Otherwise, they are building a heck of a team. You couldn't run on them last year, and now it'll be harder to pass.

Vikes can be a threat this yr despite their shaky QB. Their D is nearing a level of dominance and they have the best running threat in the league. Absolutely they are serious contendas.

Oh, umm.... sorry...

Yes the Vikings are a threat to the Cowboys.. they are not in our division and we dont play them.

I guess if we ever play them.... they could be considered a threat.... but that could be said about any team they put in front of us.

Yes, they are a threat. In fact, I would rank them as probably the 3rd or 4th best team right now.

I would probably rank the NFC as follows.

1. Giants
2. Cowboys
3. Vikes
4. Bucs
5. Saints
6. Washington
7. Philly
8. Cards
9. Seattle
10. Packers

Now, some of these teams are real close and depending on an addition here or there, they could slide one way or the other. Also, some could improve just depending on how much improvement is shown by the starting QBs. Vikes, Skinz, Cards and Packers all fit into that catagory IMO. If any of those QBs figure it out, those teams could be dramatically improved.

IMO, Vikings may have the 3rd most talent in the NFL right now, behind San Diego and us. Seriously, they have a lot of talent on that team and Jackson did imporve pretty dramatically over the 2nd half of the season. Over the last 7 games, his QBRT was something like 90. His Comp% was 67.8. His average passing yards over the last 7 games was only 187 per but, if you include his rushing totals, that number improves to 215 per game. His TD/Int ratio was even. 9 and 9. He needs to improve here but with more experience, he will. There backup QBs Bollinger and I believe they may have just signed Ferotte. McKinney needs to play better and I think they need another Guard but there OL should be better this year. They play in the NFC North, which means that unless Green Bay can put it together with Rodgers at QB, they basically have 6 gimmie games in division. They really only have 5 tough games on the schedule, IMO. They have Indy@home, NO on the road, TB on the road, Jax on the road and the Giants@ home. I view them as a very serious threat.
