Sorry but I don't get to worked up over something that happened 20+ years ago.

At the time yes but now not so much.

LOL Who was the other Coach involved with that?

Actually I think that was Lacewell and Switzer in the tryst.

Perverted weird Arkies.

No offense to people from Arkansas. I am sure you are by and large very fine people.

I am pretty much over the Jimmy fiasco.

Enough time has passed where he could have taken some time to contemplate the situation and realized what he did immediately following Johnson leaving was wrong.

But he hasn't. And he has dug in even further.

Just so he can "show 'em".

It is the epitome of shiftless ego-driven stubborn behavior.

I think Barry cheated with Lacewell's wife.

Correct.

Lacewell left Oklahoma in 1977 after his wife, Criss, became involved with Switzer. After a separation, the Lacewells reconciled. Switzer is now divorced, with three children. Lacewell did not object to his hiring in Dallas.

"It wasn't as bad as people ever thought. It was something that lasted not too long, and was over with," Lacewell said. "Everything that happened is 20 years ago. I'm an old man now."

My question is this...

Why on earth would he need to consult with Switzer about DeMarco Murray?

Was he some unknown prospect from Ouachita Baptist or something?

What is wrong with trusting what his scouts and scouting director tell him? Why would he need validation from his old drinking buddies?

I don't think the idea of leaving no stone unturned is a bad one -- ideally he is looking for an angle that no one else has on the guy (generally something bad)

I can't imagine that Switzer told us anything that the film didn't -- Jerry notes pretty freely that we didn't know how strong an insider runner Murray would be - likely no one did, he'd have gone much higher if people saw that

I get what you are suggesting, but Jones prefaced it with the idea that Switzer knows running backs better than anyone, even though he had been detached from the game.

That was no "angle". No insider scoop. Not a stone unturned.

Just him relying on a drinking buddy for advice.

That is one big huge problem Jones has. He refuses to get any aspect of the organization get younger. Where are the progressive ideas that won us three world titles? Everything is stale and has old person smell now.

Even Garrett is a tie to the old days. He may be relatively young, but he is definitely an old soul.

Buffalo is having a huge problem with Ralph Wilson's attachment to his lifer old guard right now and it is causing a serious issue with both their coach and GM who want to make changes.

Back in the 80s, Larry Lacewell was a college coach and sometimes on the same staff with Jimmy Johnson.

When Jimmy was turning around Oklahoma State and the Miami job opened up with Howard Schnellenberger moving to the USFL, Lacewell was the only coach who urged him to take it.

The Miami AD had told Jimmy the current staff would have to stay for that season because it was too late (June) for them to get jobs elsewhere. Jimmy wanted to bring his guys and everyone was telling him to stay at Stillwater, with his staff and big time recruit Thurman Thomas headlining the incoming class.

Lacewell told Jimmy he'd work through the staff problem (and it was) and to go for it.

Yes, entirely too much.

I mean why worry about one of Jerry Jones' most trusted advisors whose last big recommendation was to hire Monte Kiffin?

Just a lot of unnecessary hand-wringing.

Move along people, nothing to see here.

Because he is STILL making suggestions to Jerry. Surely disaster won't strike again - will it?

Not sure what to think. Lacewell might just being saying that to embellish a story. Or maybe his memory isnt very god.

Who cares? It all worked out and we got 3 rings and SF only got one during our run.

Too much obsession with Lacewell around here.

Anyone that can be tied to Jerry can be given a good thrashing and that serves as giving Jerry a thrashing by proxy.
