Dominating O Line

I always knew that KC had a great OL but today was unbelievable.....both running and passing! No wonder Johnson and Holmes have been unstoppable. Even Hambrick could run with that line :D . On most downs Trent had so much time to throw that even CBZ or myself would have been wide open! ;) I thought that Anthony really showed his rust today. Really had a problem covering and tackling. Hope he can improve by next week. :star:

It's true.

That's why I hate all the Larry Johnson to Dallas talk.
He's good don't get me wrong, but he wouldn't be half as good on another team.

It seems on every run in every direction, KC has 3 big guys always in front of the runner. The receivers, and even the QB, are all excellent blockers

VERY True. The O-Line is where it all starts. Let's hope ours takes this from here and gels into something besides mediocre.

the dude is a stud and I will give him his props this kinda talk sounds alot like we used to hear about another great back that ran behind a great O-Line. Yeah they have a good line but it doesn't make him any less of a back. Same with Emmitt.

Yep, that was probably the most disappointing aspect of the entire game for me. We have about 12 million tied up in our DL and they got pushed around the entire game, just like the philthy game. That should never happen to us. I really hope Shanle and Fujita are second string next year. They aren't helping the DL a whole lot either.

Our first pick in the draft runs himself out of plays just about every down. He is getting owned by every teams left tackle every game, if they don't either fall down or put a running back blocking him he does nothing. When you NEVER have to give your left tackle any help it sure helps your offense.

...but you couldn't say that about the linebackers. Shanle and James in particular made some really bad plays.

On Lj's 3rd TD run James missed his angle and took out AH on the tackle.

When Parker crossed over the middle on the series that netted KC's 4th TD Shanle watched him move in and out of his zone without following him over.

I saw our LBs numerous times attack the bottle neck when LJ was carrying the ball instead of holding containment. It was like watching lemmings following the leader and piling into a corner. They need to practice execution and avoid taking themselves out of the play.

Sorry, that wasn't the game I saw. I saw him get taken out of a play by Gonzalez in the first half and Johnson pick up good yardage. In the second half, on one of those key third downs, he beat the block and held Johnson to no gain. He had a couple of hurries on Green as well (the one where he tossed Johnson). I think Ware continues to progress and did OK against a very good offense.

LS,

The only way that is going to happen is through free agency and smart drafting in 06. We need three new stsrters next year in the O-Line.

Actually I hate this kind of talk because you could very well have made the same case against Emmitt.

I'm not sure this is true dch24. We need Flozell to come back (and be motivated) and we need Rivera to do better. Simms today actually had some good things to say about Petitti based upon where he is as a rookie. If he goes through the complete off-season ptrogram can he come back next year as a much better player? I think he can.

I'm unsure about the center position. The trend in the NFL today (on some of the better teams) seems to be toward slightly smaller but more athletic linemen. I'm not sure if that trend is real or just the flavor of the month. We'll see what the brain trust comes up with but I just can't say we need a complete oveerhauil. I do want to see more depth and more competition in camp. So I'll go with drafting OL talent fairly high. I'm just not sure what else we need to do.

...if we have stability at the tackles our problems up the center will disappear as the guards are able to provide middle help when needed.
