In a draft where most of the value can be found in the 2nd round, most people think it would be advantageous to trade down and acquire more 2nd-3rd round picks. The problem is that you need a trade partner willing to trade up, and I just don't see it.

I think the better choice is to trade UP in the first round, because you can move up for much cheaper than years past. I think there are a lot of teams with top 16 picks that would love to trade down for a cheap price. I think this is the way to go if your guy is sitting in the middle of the draft.

I am not saying trading up in this draft is the best scenario. Obviously, it depends on how things work out, but I think we are much more likely to move up than we are to move down.

I'd be fine with it, depending on who we trade up for. Perhaps if one of the DEs such as Dupree fell into the 20s a trade up would be worth it.

I for one will be surprised. All indications I've heard and read indicate the desire to move down, not up.

But, never say never!

So if everyone wants to move down, who is your trading partner? I think you lose more value my moving down in this draft, because you aren't going to command a good price point. It's simple economics.

If you can't find a trade partner, you trust your board and make your pick and not lose anything.

I think that is the most likely scenario, but like I said, it will be much easier to move up than to move down in this draft.

Dallas isn't trading up, either staying where they are because there isn't any trading partner to move down

I hope that does't happen, I'm not a fan of trading up. Peter King said the following in his MMQB:

I think Tennessee, Tampa Bay and Jacksonville, three of the first four teams in the second round, all have inquired with late-first-round teams about trading up into the bottom of the first round. I’ll be following that in the hours before the draft.

I'd like Dallas to be the trade partner and pick up any of these teams 3rd & 2nd round picks in the process.

IMHO, two 2nds (one early, one late) + two 3rds (one early, one late) > One 1st + one 2nd & one 3rd (all late)

You aren't getting a 2nd and 3rd for TB or or TENN to move back up into the first.
