I was going to post something, but I'm glad you did.
Never forget....
My brother-in-law worked in the Pentagon, with the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Ironically, the plane hit at the opposite end of the building from where they are. They were all taken to a special room for hours until it could be determined what happened. He then helped with rescue efforts--still won't talk about what he saw that day.
A former colleague of mine was a life partner of one of the pilots on the plane that hit the Pentagon. (There was a group of schoolkids on that plane who had won a trip to a special educational conference. They & their teachers, all killed. I saw one child's family member a few weeks later, wearing a t-shirt with her picture. Still breaks me up remembering it.)
Those of us in DC can remember seeing what we thought we'd never see--military vehicles on the streets & fighter jets flying at treetop level overhead.
My company has offices in the World Financial Center--they relocated there from the World Trade Center after the first bombing. One of my friends was hit by falling debris when the first plane hit. As another friend came out after the second plane hit, she looked up to our former offices in the WTC--above the flames, with people hanging out of what had been our windows. She had to leave when people started jumping--too horrible to watch.
Never forget.
More importantly, don't let the b******s win. The best way to do that is live our lives to the fullest. That's what they want to take from us--the freedom to have boards like this, to watch football, to have scantily-clad cheerleaders on the sidelines, to travel where we want, work at jobs we choose, exercise our freedom of speech & religion. Every time we do that, we win.
God bless our military, giving their lives every day so that we have our continued freedoms.
