Man is right. Dumb teams pay corners and receivers. Smart teams pay OLine and pass rushers.

Lets face Catch17 is right on this point. We do not use all of Dez' potential. I would have loved to see what Bill Walsh would have done with his talent. What makes our coaching staff think that we can only run him outside the numbers? Why cant we run more crossing routes and slants? If we are going to allow teams to draft goons like Cary Williams and Jamar Fletcher at corner to take him out, why pay a pemium price for that wide receiver? Sometime I honestly wonder what our offensive coaching staff is thinking.

The problem is we don't have any other receiving threats that scare defenses so they can always double Dez. It looked like Williams was going to be a good #2, but he's completely disappeared.

It should also be said that our offensive scheming is as uncreative as it can possibly be. No imagination at all. We're easy to defend.

You just just watch a Dez Bryant highlight vid and most of his big plays come down the sideline with womeone draped all over him.

Romo running around making plays outside the scheme and Dez making crazy plays is a dead end at some point.

Dez is probably my first or 2nd favorite player on this team but I just think with how our scheme is built and how we don't do anything creative to get players involved in the offense that we should just let him walk and spend all of that money elsewhere.

Can you imagine paying this guy what 11-14 mill a year and just allowing teams to let him disapear and not getting the ball to one of the best open field runners in the game?

If our scheme were to be fixed and we could actually get him the ball on bubble screens, drags, slants, and ect then I'd love to keep him.

If not then just go sign some solid Vincent Jackson type of receiver and let him do the same thing for less. We'll take a hit in talent but we'll have more money to help other positions that actually matter in these crap schemes.

I get it. "Use Dez more creatively" is the point of the thread. "Let Dez walk" is simply the attention grabber, the bait. Fish on!!! You've limited out today, for sure.

Scott Linehan was brought in to use Dez. This was in fact the reason Jerry specifically mentioned the change in OC, to target the best players.

If Dez continues to get doubled and nobody else is getting open something is going to have to change. But Jerry can't resort to the old Patrick Crayton, Roy Williams, Miles Austin or some other number two WR coming in to make plays excuse.

How many times you going to use the excuse of the second WR when even TWill started out hot like Miles but teams started taking him away argument? Our passing game design is bad... We even got moments where Romo is sitting chilling, drinking tea in the back.

I would like to keep our best players around, and Dez is one of our best players. I think any discussion about getting rid of players should be on the D. So many to choose from...:)

When the Cowboys made the switch from Fat Rob to Nickname Roddy, they said they wanted a defense that allowed players to come in off the street and perform with no drop off in production.

Mission accomplished.

Cowboys fans are the most Emo fans in the NFL . One week ROMO's a future hall of famer . The next week he is a bum . As is every other Cowboy player. Most of us picked 8-8 or worse before the start of the season. We're 8-4 with everything still to play for . Shut up , be a man , and quit crying.

Complaining about complainers?:D

Our coach let's this guy disapear all the time and doesn't just let him catch and run.

TO put up big numbers here but he was never used as effectively as he was in San Fran and Philly.

You get a guy that involved and it opens everything up.

We let chumps take him out of the game and run him 30 yards downfield and the most creative way we can get him the ball is off of a back shoulder throw.

I do agree that I was disappointed to see that they did not put him on the crossing patterns they had used the previous couple of games for big plays. I hate that they didn't do that this week.

That said I'm still not letting this guy walk.

When a rookie (Commanders game) can blanket you and hold you to a couple of catches, that is not an elite WR

Add in his back issues and route running limitations and we should not pay him top dollar

But jerry the moron will

I watched that game film, as painful as it was. Dez as not really blanketed as much as it seemed. A lot of the disruption was from the pass rush. A lot of times, Dez would come free out of his breaks with breeland trailing, but romo was either hopping around in the pocket or on his back.

The CB tandem they used did a great job, but most of the credit goes to the redskims blitz.

He doesn't command double teams anymore, if he did, at least Williams might produce again.

Well that's just false. Dez is still consistently getting doubled, sometimes ending up in triple coverage. And he's still interfered with the majority of plays. The problem is no other receiver is worth anything.

Dez is the 6th most targeted WR in the league. This "we don't really use him" schtick is a bunch of bull. Maybe if he learns how to run more than 4 routes (and try to keep them crisp like Witten, will ya, Dez?), and he can consistently hang on to the ball when it gets to him, his numbers will look better and his fan club will be a little happier.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Dez or anything, but I do hate how his disappearing acts are all on everyone else, and not him. That's crap. If he's as good as folks say he is, he should be killing no-name and rookie/sophmore CBs. This season, we've seen him eaten up by both. The only good news is if you want to keep him around, maybe, just maybe, that helps lower the price at the end of the day. I doubt it, but if nothing else, the Cowboys have a reason to laugh at the notion he should receive $14M-$15M a year.

Dez would look a lot better if opposing corners weren't allowed to mug him all game. Every now and then he gets the call but he usually doesn't. Every corner in the league now knows they're allowed to pull, push, wrap up and ride the back of Dez Bryant and 9 times out of 10 they won't get called for it. I wish Dez could win these battles anyway but apparently he can't. To be honest, under the circumstances he has performed pretty well.

Agree. When you allow the DB to actually grab his arms, and not give Dez the call something is wrong.
