You going to honestly say you watched Morris run last year and say you saw "special"? Really? Alfred Not much of a receiving threat, blocking is nothing special, and doesn't play ST. Going to be an uphill battle for Morris to make our roster and I doubt the line will be very long for his services if we cut him.

You have to be special to make it in the NFL that said, he's a tough proven, runner as a 1st/ 2nd down RB that fits the system, runs down hill between the tackles and fills in nicely between Elliots' ALL-U-CAN-EAT Buffets.

Much more elusive than either Dunbar or Whitehead, especially in traffic.

Agree. Neither Dunbar or Whitehead had those cuts in their inventory or the vision. Both were faster for sure. Lots of folks are fast. Very few can combine speed with vision and cutting ability. This guy looks like Shady McCoy without the top end speed.

That's all you need as a kr/3rd down back. Speed is overrated.

You won't know until seeing hm in preseason vs NFL talent, but he could make the team as kickoff returner, special teams, and third RB. If Zeke or DMac misses a game or two, he's the type of back to give the starter a breather. Definite sudden burst on tape....no hesitation...his burst has him in the second level before defenders can gather themselves.....again, on film vs lower competition.

Morris is not a good blocker or receiver. He does not player special teams (They tried him on a couple of ST snaps, but I guess that didn't go well because they didn't go it again).

That makes him a less than ideal 2nd/3rd RB under normal situations; however, if Zeke got banged up, Morris would be decent playing base downs with McFadden doing all of the 3rd down stuff.
But the idea of taking Zeke out is that another back is going to come in and run the ball. So blocking, receiving and special teams isn't a factor.
Morris is here to give Zeke a breath and that by continuing the ground and pound attack of the Cowboys.

WAT YOU WANT

Those cuts are Sweet and Nasty

When asked who he compares to:

Sproales, I dont know but Ill take White.

Cowboys had alot of interest all along brought him for a private workout March 28

I thought this was a great pickup. Will and Stephen together are going to load this team up with talent for years to come. There will be zero excuses for not winning a SuperBowl or three. I'm so excited to have those two firmly planted in the roles of 1 and1a.

I quite honestly didn't know who Jahad was until we nabbed him. Then I went and studied up. I loved what I saw. We have a Dunbar/Randle mix in him without the panty weakness and injury issues.

Yes. I do see some Randle in him. If his head is on straight (& I suspect it will be), he will make the final 53 and be a nice compliment to the Freak. Morris sucks and DMC is DMC. We need a versatile compliment to the Freak. Jahad is a long shot but I like long shots (AKA my boy Rico).

In the interview he said some people have compared him to Lesean McCoy.

Strengths

Positives: Fast enough to get the corner and owns a second and third gear in the secondary. Excellent inside quickness, hitting the hole in a hurry when in the one-back set. Gets to top speed as quickly as any back in the country. Special vision for the cutback and in traffic. Plants his foot and accelerates. Very elusive in space, with shifty hips and an ability to juke or shake off a defender. Maintains his balance well after making a move or running through arm tackles on the outside. Runs with a lean inside, will bounce off tackles and keep his legs moving. Patient enough to allow blocks to develop on stretch plays to the outside. Very natural hands as a receiver; will excel on swing and screen passes. Uses his quick feet to run crisp out routes. Ultra-competitive; works hard in the film and weight rooms. Wants the ball on every play. Negatives: Doesn't have great size or the compact strength of elite backs. Must prove he can get the tough yard and not dance to try and break a big play when it's not there. Invites turnovers by running with the ball very loosely. Doesn't always switch the ball to the outside hand. Runs out of control at times. Some of those cutbacks will not work against the speed of NFL defenses. A liability in pass protection, throwing a shoulder instead of moving his feet to take on or even just get in the way of a rusher. Whiffs on his cut blocks against blitzing linebackers.

He doesnt have a top gear but he gets to his top speed better than some scat backs,he might have a chance to make the team not just the PS because we are looking for these kind of Backs and almost drafted Pumphrey.

runs look nice.
numbers are horrible 192lb with 4.68sec 40 compared to switzer at 4.51
cone and shuttle numbers much worst than switzer who is also plenty nifty

Looks more nifty than Switzer in the video when it comes to cuts. One of the reason I ignore the combine/pro day almost completely these days.

Being able to cut and keep the speed/burst is better than straight line speed guys to take a second to get up to their track and field speed. Not saying speed is overrated, but this is a little more complex than combine/pro day numbers show which is why I go to film.

I like that he can cut on a dime and juke people out of their shoes. I think he know she's not a 4.40 guy and has developed as a cut and run guy.

People just see 40 time. Look at the thread about Brice butler. Cowboyzone.com

When it comes to 190 lbs RB it's hard to look past a 4.68 time. He looks slow running in college too.

I'm willing to keep an open mind and let his play on the NFL field speak for itself but I have zero expectations of success.
