Dorial Green-Beckham dismissed from Missouri football team

Missouri wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham has been kicked off the football team, the school announced Friday. His dismissal comes a day after he received news he would not be charged in a burglary investigation that followed his alleged unlawful entry into an apartment while searching for his girlfriend.

The decision to cut Green-Beckham, the No. 1 overall recruit nationally in the 2012 recruiting class, was made by Mizzou head coach Gary Pinkel and athletic director Mike Alden.

"This decision was made with the best interests of all involved in mind," Pinkel said in a prepared statement. "Dorial's priority going forward needs to be focusing on getting the help he needs. As we have all along, we will continue to do everything we can to assist Dorial and his family. We care deeply about Dorial and his well-being, but hopefully he can benefit from a fresh start."

Dorial Green-Beckham not welcome at Missouri State

Missouri State president Clif Smart said Friday that he, athletic director Kyle Moats and head football coach Terry Allen met earlier this week to discuss Green-Beckham, anticipating that the University ofMissouri might indeed dismiss the star receiver after a series of off-the-field incidents. They agreed, Smart said, that they would not expect Green-Beckham to join the Bears' football team. "That's not the kind of player we recruit to our program," Smart said.

According to the police report, Green-Beckham forced his way into an apartment, then pushed an 18-year-old woman down the stairs. The woman later told police she didn't want to prosecute.

idiot...it makes you wonder why a talent like that didn't go to a different program...Missou is just getting on the map in the last two years, so they are going to recruit kids that are likely not your best student-athletes....

I know that. But I don't see how having lots of kids gives you bad character. There are double standards in society. Doesn't Mitt Romney have like 50 kids? Pretty sure that's not why he lost the election. You can't compare lifestyle choices to suspected criminal activity. That's like comparing people who eat McDonald's to rapists because you're not a fan of either.
