Breer, Vela and some others that I respect have said Free is looking better then Mcq but that is all. Now I am not saying the guy should be able to block Ware or even the Rat most of the time but so far the only guys he has been stopping are other rookies or fly by nights. He has shown nothing that indicates he would be able to step in this year without looking like Rob Pettiti JR.

You're cute when you throw these little tantrums.

he has shown very little (much better then McQ but that is truly damning with faint praise) and some numbies here are drooling over him.

Great news about Free, at one of those picks appear to be turning the corner. Big is NOT a tackle... He's a beast at guard.

I didn't want to drop the bad news until a little later but they said McQuistan is just looking ok at best but both said they really want to judge the guy on how he plays this pre-season.

But so far they both didn't give him a lot of praise.

They were doing different radio shows too and both came away with the same opinions.

Nate said Holland is playing good but he still thinks he could afford to lose 10 to 15 more pounds.

He said he thinks you can get by playing with Proctor if there is a injury for 1 or 2 games but the guy just doesn't have the endurance to make it for any lengthy period of time.

Your quotes sounds almost like you don't want him to be good. I am glad that you have very little to say about how he turns out.

Nate opinion worth more than mediots. Prolly wont be able to tell much the second half of the Raider game next week. Their first string defense isnt much to write home about, so their second stringers prolly not the stiffest competition around.

The chat transcript in the other thread says that Broadus mentioned Holland looking really slow. Unfortunately. It's hard to tell anything conclusive at this point, anyway.

I've been out there 3 times now, and I will never say that I am anywhere near as knowledgeable as Broaddus and Nate concerning line play, but Free looks slightly better than McQuistan and that is all.

I've seen him abused by 5' 11" LB named named Octavian, and abused, and I mean abused by Butler and B. Williams. He does win his battles, but he is not impressive to my untrained eye.

Takw it for what it's worth, but I have mentioned in my previous post that we are in serious trouble if one of our starters goes down.

And yes Holland does need to lose about 20 pounds.

I think that is one of the best updates I've heard thus far. Thank you.

As for Holland, I have a feeling this is his last year in Dallas. The man can pancake in run blocking if the guy is right over him, but he pass protects like **** and can't run block down field. (to my overly untrained eye!) :laugh2:

Great news if true. This is the area that I'm most concerned about this season.

Then you are a smart man. The OL is the key to our year. We need to do a better job of growing our own.
