An upgrade is an upgrade
There is no reason to sit on 19-20m in cap space(with Romo's 14m)
If we can bring in some guys it on one year deals, sure. I wouldn't support bringing in any player for more than one year at this point unless we can get a backup the caliber of Ryan Fitzpatrick locked down for a few seasons.
Personally...I would rather see young guys compete than bringing a veteran in just because they seem like they're a better player based on their resume. For example, I would rather see Heath compete for the safety job than just bringing in a vet to take the job or I would rather see a rookie CB compete than just bringing a CB with some experience.
10 years ago, fans were nervous going into the season with Romo as the backup. We were nervous about being an injury away from Miles Austin starting awhile ago as well. Last season...we were nervous about Anthony Brown. A lot of times it can work out well if you promote competition and always focus on youth.
