I just looked and I can't find anything about it.

The only thing I'm finding is that just the first year of the salary was guaranteed. Guess I mixed it up.

OK, so he is a true free agent.

We have options for 2015 and 2016, but they're at 8 million a piece. He isn't worth 8 million dollars...

We must of watched different games, JJ Watts injured was all over the field and was demanding attention on every play he was in the game. We did negate most of his speed and power but it took multiple men to neutralize his talent.

My expectation of an MVP candidate is probably different than yours. Watts had no sacks, some fairly good pressure, but for most part his impact was negated by our line play and Tony's magical work. I'm just not impressed with his play yesterday.

Im fine with drafting a RT or even bringing in a solid Free Agent. Free has done a ok job this year though.

He was graded as a third rounder by the Cowboys. Have not seen anything where other teams had him pegged.

People need to start trusting the Dallas scouting department over the last couple of years despite the debacles of the past. They had a 3rd round grade on Leary and first round grades on DeMarco, Fred and TWill and were right on those players despite the blizzard of posts on this forum.

On the OP I think Free is OK but gone for sure next year. I think he is OK but a lot of the improvement is about the players around him and scheme protection that others have pointed out. Just like Leary went from a Practice Squad player as a rookie to a solid starter in his second year, posters really need to think about the fact that the same coaches are giving roster spots (not practice squad like Leary) to Parnell, Weems and Hawkins. Taking up three roster spots is a big indication they intend to replace Free next year with one of those players, and with the recent example Leary gives us there is a good chance they will be proven right in doing so.

The option is 8M per season which is way too much for Free.

But none is guaranteed, correct? Can't they resign him at 2MM (for example) if his agent thinks he won't do better than that after being cut?

I'm not advocating that number or bringing him back, just asking about the scenario.

Yes, it is not guaranteed. He's basically just like a free agent because they will not exercise the option at 8M.

Some team might want to overpay him because of the overall success of this OLine. His agent will probably tell him that he can get more than 2M with another team.

So there is an option, but it's not really an option.

Thanks for making that infinitely more confusing lol

Yes, I got the info from the department of redundancy department.

I felt Free played a very good game he just needs to continue working on technique and foot work, when he is doing those things correctly he is a very solid player

I understand what you are looking for in a MVP this is just what the Texans could bring to the table on this particular Sunday, with him healthy and Clowney on the other end I dare say it would of been a different show in the trenches. I watched him in both the Giants loss and the Bills win this year, he has talent equivalent to the best years of Demarcus Ware IMO.
