Doug Pederson challenge against GB

It was a bad decision, but it's a bad rule to begin with. A team should never be punished for winning a challenge. You should have as many challenges as you want with the ability to challenge a play expiring only after 2 unsuccessful challenges. If they are worried about the referees looking bad or taking too much time, well get referees who don't suck so much.

I don't think he's regressing, he's just not as good as people predicted he would be. He started hot and went cold.

Well, it is difficult for rookie QBs to come in as a starter and be expected to have a rating better than 100 and TD-to-int. rating of 9-1. That just doesn't happen.

Wentz at 83.4 with 11 TDs and 8 interception is more the norm.

This told you what kind of brainpower this dude has. Virtually none.

To me, that's worth firing him over. Two yards that meant nothing the difference between 2nd-and-10 and 2nd-and 8?

The Eagles are screwed with that guy.

They could still have Chip Kelly

I don't know, there were times last night that he just looked like a sacrificial lamb that was willing to accept his beating without putting up a fight.

Hindsight is 20/20..

Most posters, me included at one point wanted Garrett gone. It was a frequent topic the last few years. Posters wanted him out as recent as this offseason.

Not even hindsight for me. This is only the 2nd winning season in his tenure. How many coaches in the league couldn't field a level of success with this team? He's having a really impressive year, but that's where it stops for me.

I had no expectations for him, DP, JG, CC, or PL. they are all rookies and there is no way to accurately predict any of their production to this point, especially at the beginning of the season.

I am just going by what has been done to this point.

Just an extra caveat, a coworker made some comments about this years's quarterbacks drafted that made sense to me. It's not verbatim because it was a long covo.

CW: small school (I think he won a championship?) unknown competetiton but likely weak

JG: qb at cal (pac10,) never ranked in the top 5 as far as I know. Came from mora's system with good competition

DP: bottom feeder SEC school, had miss. St ranked 1 (ahead for Alabama, cal, lsu, NDSU, etc) for a long period of time (half a year I believe?) the competition in the SEC is obvious.

PL: went to Memphis, other than leary coming from Memphis I don't know anything about that program or even what division they are in.

CC: Michigan state, big10 school. Good competition.

It's not debatable DP fell into a good situation but it also doesn't discount his readiness due to playing against higher end completion more often with a stint at being #1 in the nation.

That's what happens when you find your head coach at the beach surfing the Big Kahuna.

Did anyone catch the challenge last night by Pederson....2 yard pass play around midfield early 3rd qtr....He won the challenge making it 2 and 10, instead of 2 and 8...left himself no challenges left for rest of game that was close at the time....Explanation given, situational football...rather have them 2 and 10 and field position....SAY WHAT??? what a moron.... if Garrett did this the mob would still be forming...

Please don't let the Eagles fire this guy....he is priceless (and clueless)!!!
It was a stupid decision on many levels. No reasonable or logical answer can be given for this move.

I can tell you Philly sports radio is already starting on fire Peterson. Just have to hope it doesn't happen too soon.

I laughed. The Packers were at the time 7-7 on third downs. They converted this one too.

That's the thing. It was a 1st down play. It went from 2nd and 8 to 2nd and 10. One of the oddest challenges I have seen at any level. He gained nothing from this at all. Especially since even if he won the challenge, they would be out of challenges the rest of the game.

They almost picked up the 1st down on the very next play. Even the announcers were questioning this decision.

It's stupid, that's what it was. Why make a big deal out of 2 yards? I mean, good Lord.

But the rules are the rules.......terrible decision for 2 yards......who cares if he was right

While that's true to some extent, it hasn't always helped other quarterbacks. If it could be a predictor of success, every team would use it. A good example would be JaMarcus Russell, who was 21-4 as a starter for LSU, including 10-1 as a sophomore.

How much of Russell's problems were due to the purple drank and being out of shape though? Some guys just quit on you once they get the money.

Yes, it was weird.

I don't know why they don't get another challenge when they "win" the challenge.

Considering the general disarray of the roster, new coaches, rookie QB I'd say Pederson's team has done alright this year. Sure, he lucked into that defensive personnel but that is his coordinator. The Eagles fans got sucked into having high expectations because of early success,,, kinda like us except the Cowboys are still delivering. :)
