Alright Guys, and Gals, which do you what would you rather see us do in the first round? Continue building a dominate defense or try to add some offensive firepower/protection? I didnt include trade down as this is just to see where everyone sits on which side of the ball we should draft first.

I would like to see us trade down some, but I am in the camp that unless a can't miss Offensive player drops to our spot I would like to see us finish building the dominate defense that BP/JJ started to really put together last year.

Offense.

Honestly, with the exception of depth and maybe free safety, I'm okay with our defense just being a year older. We have a number of needs on offense, including o-line and (I think) receiver.

Defense is the quickest way to the Superbowl, IMO.

Agreed. Get us a stout OLB who can rush besides Ware and we will be alot better.

I dont really trust rookie OL too much really. Rather fill those holes with some vets.

Defense for me. Parcells knows what win championships.

Defense. Right now it looks like we can trade down a bit (if some team want's to trade up) and still pick Bobby Carpenter or Manny Lawson. That would be my choice.

Definately defense. IF we went offense I would not be upset by Winston Justice but, I don't see Jerry going after an O-lineman with our first pick.

We still have a "contain" type defense...

A defense that creates turnovers would help the offense by shortening the field and also by scoring a few cheapies.

Amen to that brother! I would like to see us take a LB or FS with our first pick (we might trade down first). I don't see any offensive players that would be able to step in and help right away that we are likely to get in this draft so defense is the way to go.

as pathetic as the offenses were that went to the SB this year....heck look at the playoff contenders: Skins, Pitt, Denver, Jacksonville, Seattle, NYG...pathetic. The best offenses were sitting at home in KC and San Diego.

We need a nasty LB and a vet FS...and maybe one more passrusher
but mostly we need a coordinator who attacks more.
Our O would've been the best its been since the triplets last year if not for the OL. We'll get that fixed I have no doubt. But I don't think there is a first rounder that would help our O that much.

We desperately need impact linebackers and you can't find those in free agency. We could also use a free safety and a young nose tackle.

This draft sucks at WR and OT, though we could draft an OG in the second or third. We have developing prospects for the OL in Peterman, Columbo, and Pettiti so IMO we need to sign free agents to fix the OL. Henson and Romo remove any reason to draft QB. We have three young RB's so getting a back is also a longshot. That leaves TE and FB, and I don't think we'll take either on the first day unless an impact receiving TE in hte mold of a Gonzalez drops to 18.

At LB, we have two players and a lot of chaff, including a 2nd round bust. If Singleton comes back we have a servicable stopgap but then we still have a gaping hole at ILB. Shanle, Flowler, and Fujita are backups at this point.

You can make an impact as a rookie at both Safety and Linebacker in this league, so I think that's where we'll go. LB, OG, FS in that order and sign Backus and (please) Bentley in free agency.

BPA that fits our needs does not matter if it is offense or defense, I think it is more important to hit on a player who can contribute early on.

I think most people see a defensive player doing that in this year's draft so that's one of the reasons why it's leading, not because people think the offense is in much better shape than the defense.

I agree that is how many feel, myself I have no problem with Dallas taking OL in round 1 or WR heck even QB if the scouts and organization feel strongly about a particular player after all they have been scouting these players and you expect them to have a better feel than the average fan. All I ask is that we don't reach for a player, get the BPA that fits our needs.

We have to have an impact player, and after the Petitti/Tucker duo, Parcells will not go with a rookie or unproven player again, IMO.

The WR class stinks.

RB is pretty set.

We won't be drafting a QB in the first, if at all.

We won't draft a TE, that high.

That only leaves defense, and we need two starting LBs and a starting safety.

LB in the 3-4 has much more impact.

The pick will be a LB.

You may be right but then again using Petitti who was a 6th round pick is not a great example of not going after a highly touted lineman.

We will take an OL, but not at 18.

I think the plan is find a RT in FA, keep Flo at LT, give Petitti a year to get better feet and stronger, and draft Adams replacement in the 2nd round.

You could be right then again should one of the top OT slip a bit to 18 I would not be shocked to see Dallas go after that player. I'm not opposed to LB or FS on defense if the right guy is there but I'm not against OL either. I think you keep all options on the table.

Sounds good to me. I think Daryn Colledge would be a god choice in the 2nd round.
