No guessing about whom to trade with and exact picks etc.....but.....

Rd. 1 (trade down) -- Noah Spense, DE

Rd. 1 (trade up) -- Paxton Lynch, QB

Rd. 2 -- William Jackson III, CB

Rd. 3 -- Austin Johnson, DT

Rd 4 -- CJ Prosise, RB

I'd use the whatever I got for moving out of #4 and comp picks to move back up for Lynch
I'd make sure I get the best CB left in round 2---Apple or Jackson or Fuller
After these 5 players, it's all about depth and BPA, possibly a WR, Safety, TE, though we do have numbers at those positions currently.

I'd love it, but I think would take Devontae Booker in the 3rd and a 1 Tech in the fourth.

All that assumes Spence's character checks out as a reliable player.

What's it going to be then, eh?

That would be interesting, but just curious, I am guessing the trade up for Lynch would be composed of what? You still have picks in all the rounds, including the 2nd.

I imagine the trade up for Lynch would probably require #34 and our 3rd rounder. The numbers seem to add up if we are trading up with Washington to #21.

A trade down for Spence should net at least a 2nd and more. I'd use whatever I received for moving down, whether it was once or twice, along with compensatory or later picks (we can trade them this year) to move back into round 1 for Lynch)....it shouldn't take much to get back into the 2nd half of round 1 besides what we gathered for moving out of #4.

No way I trade our #34 pick. I don't even consider moving into round 1 for Lynch unless I've already moved down from #4. Spence will be available in the 2nd half of the round as well...that's a significant move back, which should provide the ammunition to secure two #1's in the 2nd half of the round.

Pass on Spence. I would rather trade down 1st and back up in the 1st and take Lynch and maybe someone like Vernon Butler. Spence is probably the best pass rusher, but I don't won't a moron knucklehead. We've had and have enough of those recently. (Gregory, Hardy, Randle, etc)

It's time for smarter non-knuckleheads.

Don't let Sturm's write-up fool you....Vernon Butler isn't going anywhere in round 1, maybe not even round 2. Other scouts say he plays too high and can't get off blocks. Most have him listed way down the list of top DT's.

As long as Spence does not turn out to be a knucklehead, that'd be a nice haul

I didn't read Sturm's post. I watched him play. Yes, he plays high (look at my past posts, I said this) Other than that, he is actually quite strong at the point of attack. Playing high can be fixed. (Ask Chris Canty)

One thing that is important is not to read others opinions before forming one of your own. Otherwise, you allow people to influence your opinion and then make a ****ty opinion based on a possibly flawed view.

You can't trade comp picks this year. That starts next year.

I dont see Lynch getting to a spot where we trade up. I don't even see him getting out of the top 10

Like whom, for example?

You don't have to look very far....Dantheman, for one, right here in draft zone wrote:

Negatives: Plays at too high a pad level allowing defenders to get leverage on him. Doesn't always rush with a purpose, looks lost at times. Would like to see him develop some more pass rush moves. Doesn't make enough stops in the run game. Looks overly gassed at certain times of the game where he isn't running full speed. Would like to see him better disengage and get off blocks, doesn't have much of a counter. Played against small school competition that he didn't always dominate the way you would like.
Where He Fits and My Opinion: Good player that is probably best suited in a 3-4 defense. His length and size would be perfect for that scheme. He shows some nice traits, but I just don't know where he would best be suited in a 4-3. Not explosive enough to be a 3 tech in our scheme. Most likely play 1 tech in our scheme. Like the player, don't love him.

Most sites I've seen had him at 9-10 among DTs at end of season, but his workouts have him rising...now 5-7 among DTs. That's more than enough for me to believe he's not going in round 1.
