First Round Mock Draft for the NFL Draft ‘07
After NFL Combine March
* Underclassmen x - Cleveland won the coin flip with Tampa

1. Oakland - 2-14 -* JaMarcus Russell QB 6-6, 255 LSU
Raiders need new leadership and Russell would be fine addition.

2. Detroit - 3-13 * Adrian Peterson RB 6-1, 220 Oklahoma
Lions would love this feature back despite adding Tatum Bell in trade.

x - 3. Cleveland - 4-12 - Joe Thomas OT 6-7, 310 Wisconsin
Browns have to find a way to protect QB Frye and Thomas would be too good to pass on here.

4. Tampa Bay - 4-12 - * Calvin Johnson WR 6-4, 235 Georgia Tech
Bucs are sitting and hoping the best player in the draft falls to them here.

5. Arizona - 5-11 - Gaines Adams DE 6-4, 265 Clemson
Cards seem do this every year and never gets their changing front four right.

6. Washington - 5-11 – * Alan Branch DT 6-5, 330 Michigan
Commanders would love this anchor for their front four.

7. Minnesota - 6-10 - Brady Quinn QB 6-4, 230 Notre Dame
Vikings are hoping he falls to this spot where they could not pass on him.

8. Houston - 6-10 - Leon Hall CB 5-11,195 Michigan
Texans defense has several blue chip players and another top cover man can put this unit up another level.

9. Miami - 6-10 - LaRon Landry FS 6-2, 205 LSU
Dolphins are looking for an impact defender in secondary and Landry would be an early starter.

10. Atlanta - 7-9 - * Jamaal Anderson DE 6-6, 255 Arkansas
Falcons will have to replace Patrick Kerney and probably look to this spot with their #1 pick.

11. San Francisco - 7-9 - * Ted Ginn WR 6-0, 180 Ohio St
49ers’ offense needs a premier playmaker and Ginn can strike from anywhere.

12. Buffalo - 7-9 - * Lawrence Timmons LB 6-3, 230 Florida St.
Bills defense suffered some FA losses and a speedy backer would be a great addition here.

13. St. Louis - 8-8 - Amobi Okoye DT 6-2, 290 Louisville
Rams are looking to this guy to be a difference maker on their disappointing front four.

14. Carolina - 8-8 - Levi Brown OT 6-5, 325 Penn St.
Panthers will probably address the tackle spot early and Brown is flying up the charts.
15. Pittsburgh - 8-8 - * Dwayne Jarrett WR 6-5, 210 USC
Steelers need more playmakers for Big Ben to return to top form.

16. Green Bay - 8-8 - Michael Griffin SS 6-0, 200 Texas
Packers have problems in the secondary and along their front four.

17. Jacksonville - 8-8 - * Reggie Nelson FS 6-1, 190 Florida
Jaguars defense is looking to add a playmaker in their disappointing secondary.

18. Cincinnati - 8-8 - * Greg Olsen TE 6-5. 255 Miami
Bengals passing game needs some impact on the inside and Olsen is a blue chip performer.

19. Tennessee - 8-8 - * Marshawn Lynch RB 5-10, 220 California
Titans released Travis Henry and are looking to add a playmaker out of the backfield.

20. N. Y. Giants - 8-8 - Paul Posluszny LB 6-1, 235 Penn St
Giants made major changes on their disappointing backer unit where Posluszny could be an early NFL starter.

21. Denver - 9-7 - Adam Carriker DE 6-5, 280 Nebraska
Broncos defense needs a stud pass rusher and Carriker is flying up the charts.

22. Dallas - 9-7 - * Chris Houston CB 5-10, 180 Arkansas
Boys will be hard pressed to pass on this fast cover man, though not their biggest need position.

23. Kansas City - 9-7 - * Jarvis Moss DE 6-6, 255 Florida
Chiefs will debate a pass rusher and cover man in the early rounds and Moss is moving up quickly.

24. New Eng (Seat) - 9-7 - Aaron Ross CB 6-0, 195 Texas
Patriots secondary could suffer FA losses and with injuries and aging players this could be the focus of one of their two #1 picks.

25. New York Jets - 10-6 - * Darrelle Revis CB 5-11,190 Pittsburgh
Jets are expected to address the secondary early with possibly their #1 pick this April.

Eagles are looking to a front seven defender with big play ability.

29. Baltimore - 13-3 - Justin Blalock OG 6-4, 330 Texas
Ravens continue to rebuild their line with age at a few key positions.

30. San Diego - 14-2 - * Robert Meachem WR 6-2, 205 Tennessee
Chargers will probably address this deep position early in the draft and possibly with their #1 pick.

31. Chicago - 13-3 - Joe Staley OT 6-5, 295 Central Michigan
Bears’ have problems along their offense line and look to address the tackle spot early.

32. Indianapolis - 12-4 - Patrick Willis LB 6-2, 230 Mississippi
Colts are looking for front seven defenders and Willis is one of the most consistent performers in this class.

Why pass on Reavis who's a much higher rated player and also a return specialist?.

just a question about the draft... im hoping we draft a CB.. how would you guys rank these 4... Hall, Houston, Ross, Revis.. from my understanding the way i wrote them is how theyre ranked right? so if the 2nd best CB in the draft is still available when we draft shouldnt we take him?

This is the only mock draft that has Houston over Revis. PFW has Revis the 2nd rated CB and Houston the 9th, they compare him to Ahmad Carroll and add he will struggle to be anything more then a 3rd corner.

i'd take Houston or Revis. Houston is faster and still physical, just not as big.

I think Meachem will go much earlier than where mock drafts project him, 214, running a 4.39, he's physical, explosive and a heck of a route-runner and pass-catcher, I would be giddy as hell if we're able to draft him

This is potentially a great play maker

That was all before the Combine where Houston had great numbers and Revis didnt work out...But Houston is not just a workout warrior, I watched alot of Arkansas games and he was dominant in most of those games. He shut down many of the top rated receivers in this draft....This would be a great pick for the Cowboys.

If this scenario plays out, why not just trade down five or ten spots and pick up an extra pick?

I watched all of Arkansas games this year.....and I disagree.

He was solid, but far from dominating. The Razorback running game was dominating.

I can remember many of the announcers saying that the Razorback CBs allowed too many completed passes in front of them. Houston was a good player, but he never dominated.

Most look at his game vs USC and say that he held Jarrett to hardly anything. But it's not like he was locked on him one-on-one.

He's a guy with great measureables.....but those guys are found in every draft. He has POTENTIAL for sure....but he's no where near as good as everyone is making him out to be.

I agree that the Arkansas running game was dominant....McFadden looks like a star, and the front runner for the Heisman next year... The "other guy" Felix Jones almost looks better at times. Chris Houston did a good job on Jarrett, like u said...But he had good games against LSU who has a couple good receivers over there....But as you say, maybe Dominating was a little extreme....But definately a good player..I like him better than Revis from Pittsburgh.

We're not drafting a DB in the 1st round.

Book it.

Why do u feel so strongly about that??? This draft is loaded with corners and safety, which could mean we could wait until 2nd or 3rd round and still pick someone that can play, so i can see that logic....But with so many DB's having 1st round grades, its a good possibility we take one....Its not the greatest need, but remember that Jerry Jones is back in control of drafting.

Maybe because Houston's the far superior player.

I had Revis fighting with Ross for the top overall corner position about a month ago until I seriously started watching Pitt games to get a better opinion of him. Now he's my sixth ranked corner. I'd take Ross, Hall, Houston, Wilson and even McCauley over him.

I also have Hall, Houston, and Ross rated over Revis, in that order...But havnt seen enough of Wilson to rank him over Revis...But McCauley is real close behind.....I would rate them like this so far
Hall
Houston
Ross
Revis
D. Hughes
McCauley
Wilson
