If this was five years ago, I would have wanted the team to make a serious effort in signing Kevin Williams. He's durable enough, but I wonder how many more solid years he has left to offer?

I think a guy like him if you choose to sign you do it on a 1 year deal and make him part of the defensive rotation. I expect to see defense rotating a lot of guys in an out this season.

Kevin Williams (DT) on a 2 year deal.

Danario Alexander (WR/Returner) or get Miles (WR) back on the cheap since he knows the offense and can start. I know we brought in some young talent, 5th rounders down and have Terrence Williams developing but an injury happens to Dez or Williams and we're in some hot water.

Davin Joseph (OG) on a 2 year deal.

LB - Wilber's gonna have to get on it, maybe switch Carter to the other side.

All of them I would consider progress stoppers at this point. Let's see how TC goes first. I do think we could use a few more guys on the OL for depth competition though.

We have alot of bodies for DL currently. I would wait till middle of camp to determine if help is needed. Rather a young guy get his shot than having an aging vet that that spot.

I think this is the most likely scenario. If we get a cpl weeks into training camp and the DL isn't gelling or they think we need more experience, I wouldn't be surprised if they go after Williams or Carter even on short deals.

This.^

Keep as many young guys as possible. They don't need progress stoppers.

can't have enough DL imo, at the right price of course

I'm sure Lord Rod of house Marinelli would agree

only downside to that is guys like William need to be in camp not sitting around. You can still use pre season to get young guys the snaps and limit what a guy like Williams gets rep wise but he needs to be training and working out.

Can't help but wonder if they take another look at Will Herring. Don't know how he would feel about it after the last time and how botched it was.

Williams is a veteran. He needs to be working out, staying in shape and keeping his weight down. I don't think missing a couple weeks of training camp is really going to be all that dramatic for a DT with his experience and in this system.

I'd like to see a veteran RB on the roster maybe even Bush.

I think any player vet or rookie missing training camp is not a good thing, taking guys to camp does not slow anyone down. I keep hearing progress stopper? Not in camp and by a large margin vet do not see many live snaps in preseason that tends to go to young and inexperienced players. Working out on your own and working in a team environment it is like night and day. If Dallas chooses not to get a vet out of FA fine but if you do then if you are trying to be a team then get them into camp

What exactly happened with that? I know he was signed, or supposedly signed, then he wasn't. Was it just a matter of the deal falling through, or a failed physical? I don't really remember hearing what actually went down there.

Maybe our backup plan at DT1 is Josh Brent. After he gets released from jail of course. Not sure if he faces league suspension, after spending the last 2 years away.
