I prefer to grade those choices as a whole, combined with the rest of the draft and free agency. Anytime Jerry shows some love for the OL I will applaud, but if that single draft pick is the only substantive move he makes this offseason then I will see it as another half-arsed move.

I also like the offensive concept they're shooting for, I think Romo's style could use more Witten-like TE options and the WR they picked looks solid too. They just need to get that OL squared away and BOOM this offense would be a real force.

E. I would have traded down again to the second round where Frederick would still be there. The second best center went in the fourth round

D. As a general principal, you never focus on one position that you "have to get" in the draft. You have a list of 5 or 6 positions of need and take bpa out of those. If the bpa is in a position of absolutely no need and he is ranked a good bit higher than all of the need players you trade down. If the bpa is in a position of no need and he has fallen drastically you pick him anyway.

Here you had the perfect storm for a value pick: a player that is in a position of relative need that has fallen drastically. Youve got to man up and make the pick. Clasically poor draft decision, doesnt even matter if it works out in hindsight.

The only way its ok is if we didnt have floyd rated very high and other teams didnt either (i doubt this from watching the vikings press conference).

They didn't want to risk losing him.

In the end, a lot of us simply wanted a plug and play guard/center in the 1st round, it appears we got that.

The circumstances of the pick is what's a bit of a downer, but by this time next year, we'll all be talking of the guys play, not where we picked him and not what we got for the trade down.

STL got a 3rd and 6th from ATL and gave up a 7th to move down 8 spots. Think we should have gotten at least a late-rd. pick to move down even more than STL did.

And anything else is just plain lunacy :abuseme:

This move is gonna haunt us just like the Randy Moss trade.

Jerry Jones trying to qualify the trade down as saying Floyd is a NT is just asinine.

If that was the case.....then why did the Vikings take him that run nothing but a 4-3 Defense?????

Butthurt Floaty.....figures you would pick "D"

Thing is there's not really a huge gap between Fredricks and the #2 rated OC in the draft who's still up for grabs going into the 4th so i honestly think we could have gone a different direction in the 1st and still had Fredricks

Who are you thinking about? C wasn't a great draft this year.

D. Not so much upset about the trade but I think the pick for Floyd should have been made. Red is just a puppet, Steve is going to follow in his old mans footsteps.
