I just took a look at Scott wrights latest mock and he has us taking Harvin at 51, if Harvin falls to us would you be happy with selecting him?

No because I think his foot injury is a bigger issue than the drug one.

Harvin is one of three players the Cowboys took off their Draft Board.

Therefore, no.

No.

Seems too stupid for a variety of reasons.

I agree. He was taken off the board so I don't care if he's there in the 7th. Do I think what he did was a big deal, no not really. And talent wise I would've taken him at 20 if we still had our pick, but a line has to be drawn some where.

Great talent and loved him in college, but sadly, no because of all the off the field issues.

Good morning all. Happy Draft Day!

Yay, I would take Harvin at 51. At that point the risk-reward makes sense to me.

Would I take him in the top 20? No.
I thin he'll be great but there is obvious risk.

He's not falling to 51 or out of the first round. The vikings, jets, and the dolphins just recently had a 4th visit with him. He is the most explosive player in the draft and that will outweigh his off the field issues.

To me, it'd be tempting but no. The WRs weren't a problem in 2008, infact they were a rare bright spot. Even with the loss of Terrell Owens and not much left behind in Dallas, this is an offense that should be focusing on the run game in 2009 so they should be able to get by w/ what they have + a lower round pick.

Offense should be focused on finding OLine depth and Defense on saftey and DLine depth (particularly at DT)

The only problem I see with Harvin, is he is basically Felix Jones. Felix can do all the same stuff and most likely, better.

I'd take him........but I would rather get the beast............Nicks from UNC.

BTW...Wallace is my pick in the 5th....kick returner..and speed to burn in the slot.

Must have missed that one. Who leaked that out and who are the other two supposedly off?

Raji of BC and Jamon Meredith of South Carolina are the other two.

Here's an article about Harvin off the board.

Beware of the Gator receiver

In case you haven't heard, Florida's Percy Harvin appears to be in a draft free-fall right now based on character concerns. According to a Valley Ranch source, the Cowboys have taken Harvin off their board, which shouldn't be an issue since their first pick is No. 51 overall.

But even if a cloud wasn't hanging over Harvin right now, the fact he once caught passes in Gainesville is reason enough to worry. The good people at Cold, Hard Football Facts.com compiled a list of the 16 Gators receivers who've been drafted since 1991.

And the player with the second-best numbers, Ike Hilliard, didn't exactly light it up for the Giants. Taken seventh overall in 1997, Hilliard only came close to 1,000 yards once (996 in 1999), although he did have eight touchdown catches in 2000. Who's the most prolific NFL receiver to come out of Florida over the past 20 years?

That would be the immortal D-Jack, Darrell Jackson, who surpassed the 7,000-yard mark this past season in Denver. By the way, Jackson and Hilliard are both unrestricted free agents if anyone's interested.

Wonder what the deal was for Raji....another dope smoker? I wouldn't want Harvin for the exact reason the article implies: a florida WR.....a bigger harbinger of failure than a Wolverine WR.

guess we'll see, but I bet he doesnt go in the first rd. I even have my doubts he'll get picked today at all and will probably end up that free fall guy everyone talks about all weekend.

it isnt just the drug thing...there's the injury thing...there's the horrible attitude thing...there's the spread offense thing

he just isnt worth it...nobody on that Florida coaching staff shed one tear that he left early...even the UF boosters were glad he left apparently
