This is the opinion of the New York attorney General, who wrote:

“It is clear that DraftKings and FanDuel are the leaders of a massive, multibillion-dollar scheme intended to evade the law and fleece sports fans across the country,” Schneiderman said. “Today we have sent a clear message: not in New York, and not on my watch.”

I was already grossed out by Jerry Jones, but he's gone into mega-sleaze territory with his equity position (part owner) of DraftKings. Meanwhile the whole league's integrity and trustworthiness has descended to Big Time Wrestling levels.

Anyone witnessing games now can't help but observe the cloud of obscure and contradictory rules that permit the league to puppet results in whatever way that profits the insiders.

The whole NFL has become a joke..a blight.

I have said it from day 1,this one day fantasy is gambling and for the league which shuns gambling to embrace it is a joke, goes to show the owners will do anything for more money never mind the ethics.

According to the Times, Schneiderman concluded that DraftKings and FanDuel “seriously mislead New York citizens about their prospects of winning,” and that “the top one percent of DraftKings winners receive the vast majority of the winnings.”

It should be noted that an expose recently showed that in some instances insiders were dominating that top-winning bracket.

t's a scam folks! The NFL is essentially no different than organized crime. If you think that the results of the games aren't now frequently manipulated by outside influences--I have some oceanfront property to sell you in Arkansas.

I have played on there every once in awhile...more golf than football. It is a scam. Guys spend their days running algorithms and about 1% of the same guys win all the money. Good for them but don't expect much if you play

You were already grossed out by Jerry...that right there is a pretty funny comment. The NY attorney General is the sleeze bag here, but then it's pretty damn typical as he is looking to make a name for himself. Eeefff him and his typical nanny state crap, he grosses me out.

I work hard for my money and prefer not to give it away. I am not opposed to modest casual gambling but almost never do any. I was profoundly effected by watching a neighbor friend who's dad was such a gambling addict that he would literally steal from his own children to support his habit.

Well I'll play the million dollar games for $3 once each week then just play smaller 50/50 games and I've won $600 so far this year so I must be considered an insider.

Look, if your dropping $500 a week trying to win big money on that stuff that's on you.

I find it fun and harmless and before you praise the outstanding ethical morals of NY just know the only reason they banned it is because they're not getting a piece of the action just like Nevada. Rest assured when it's legislated (and I have no problems with that) and they do get revenue they'll be all over it.

They say a fool is easy separated from his money. There are a pile of fools playing gambling big money on football games.

You might as well walk up to a complete stranger and write him a big check.

Some people keep it sane and reasonable what they gamble. But the issue is not only the people who abuse it and lose massive money--it's the integrity of the sport itself. It's gone.

Not sure I quite buy into the conspiracy.

These are games predicated on individual stats where random Joe's benefit based on the outcomes of a few calls. Okay, sure, I can buy that.

Why does the NFL or anyone else care who the hell wins in fantasy sports?

Exactly, what is up with these ******* *** holes who feel the need to determine how people should spend their time and money?

I'm all for reasonable regulation to make sure its legit, people aren't getting ripped off and its a fair playing field for everyone involved but I am against banning it entirely, Ive already seen this with poker and it infuriates me

I think gambling should be legalin every state (especially Texas!!) but regulated and taxed.

The issue here is the fantasy sites are taking a larger percentage of the pie than any normal gambling operation and they have no real customer support except email.

For small fun it is no big deal but it definitely needs to be regulated. I've heard people win big then have issues withdrawing money.

They want your social security number when withdrawing as well.

Uh in the states its legal if you win beyond on a certain threshold, it is taxed. I believe the feds get a percentage when it is 10K and over. Personally if you are going to tax me on my winnings then i should get a credit for my losses.

You're supposed to declare income and pay taxes on any amount of net money you win, but I believe the general rule is that if someone wins $10,000 or more (at odds of 100-to-1 or smaller) then the casino actually withholds the taxes from their payout.

I've played plenty of times, but it's just 3-5 bucks here or there.
I win right about 1/2 the time....so I actually don't even break even because they take 10%.
Basically entertainment, and that's it. On don't profit when I go to the movies or go to a bar with buddies--which is also entertainment.

It is 2015 gambling should be legal anyway. Why not just regulate it to make sure it is on the up and up.
