The guy is having an excellent game today. He has a pick and whoever he is on has been shutdown. Jammer is also looking like a all-pro but Florence looks like a guy we really need to take a look at next year.

I have watched him several times this past year including yesterday and couldn't be more impressed with the job he did in the nickle, many situations in man-to-man with Wes Welker.

He is a free agent this year and I think could challenge for a starting spot with the Boys. At the very least he would prove to be a huge upgrade as a nickle back...how do you guys feel about him??? Would he be worth the price??

I think he's itching to regain a starting job and Henry would stand in his way. I bet DEN nabs him to replace FA Dre Bly.

I prefer addressing the need for another CB during the draft rather than thru free agency. I am not opposed to bringing in Florence or any other FA, but I think Dallas can find their CB in the draft.

I wouldn't mind bringing Florence in and then still draft a CB in the first two rounds. It would be really nice to have someone familiar with Wade's system in here to help.
If we give him a nice paycheck, a chance to reunite with Wade and a legit shot at starting we might be able to get him to come.
I like the idea of having Newman, Henry, Florence, and a high draft pick as our top four corners. In the league you need to have at least three guys that can cover and maybe even four.

i'd not cry at all if we did a day 1 pick on CB *and* brought in a proven FA.

the thing is, just because we have Henry and Newman does not mean that the Free agent CB will not get to play. Reeves played a lot even when he wasn't considered a starter. I know whoever comes here all 4 CB's will get to play a lot, and we all know how Henry gets injured almost every year.

Bring him in AND a CB at #22 or #29 in the draft. A kid like Talib or McKelvin would be rounding into shape by midseason and he would be our 4th CB able to come along slowly. Florence may be the starter if he were to come here. I would not be adverse to open competition at the CB spot next to TNew. It would only make the team better. Steel strengthens steel correct? May the best man win. Whoever loses out will still be a better 3rd corner than most teams in the league can put on the field.

Stay away from Florence. He is a liability in the secondary. Go to the SD board and find out

I am not the most knowledgeable on florence, but isnt he the guy that couldnt wait to replace and the reason they drafted Cromartie?

Now if we resign reeves, and draft a corner to be the third corner this year and then could still sign a florence, that would be ideal. It would improve our special teams, our versatility, our depth and strengthen the area every team is looking to upgrade.

I agree 100%. It would be safe to say that Wade knows a lot about this guy, so I would feel pretty good about what ever we decide to do with him.

no matter what we do, we almost have to draft a CB in this draft and early

Could please explain to me why we would entertain the idea of resigning Reeves?

Known depth, he is a very good special teams player and he knows our defense.

He would be a 4th or 5th db in the scenario I painted. He is a local guy and would get to stay home and would be active every game because he would always be important to our special teams.

Essentially he would be replaced by the rookie we draft, and florence would play that 4th role and then reeves would play the role of nate jones this year.

That is really a leap that reeves and florence would ever do that, but I am just saying.

I wouldn't mind bringing him in myself, but I have a feeling he'll want to go where he feels he'll have a better chance at starting. Whether it through FA or the draft, or both, we clearly need some help at the CB spot.

Welker makes his money off of LBs... he also profits off confusion created by the scheming...

when he's d' ed up by cornerbacks, he is average... I wouldn't judge a coernerback on how they play Wes Walker... the Patriots are bread and butetr when teams are playing zone against them...

Guess he was matched up against LB's quite often this year.

Florence is a solid corner whose main flaw is that he tends to be over-aggresive at times...but I'll take that over the Cowboys cautious third and fourth corners anyday.
