Take this with the necessary grain of salt.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees missed Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury, marking the first time an injury caused him to miss a start since coming to New Orleans.

After the game, Brees spoke to Cox Sports Television and said it was “extremely difficult” to watch while Luke McCown led the offense during the 27-22 loss to the Panthers. Brees also said he isn’t sure whether he’ll miss another game because it’s “a matter of functionality” in terms of the throws he’s able to make.

that alone speaks volumes. if his shoulder just isn't strong enough, how can it "get there" in a week? 2?

we could be seeing the end of this "brees".

I honestly don't care. I'm sick of hearing how he single-handedly carried this city on his back after Katrina (give me a break.) You'd have to live here and be a fan of another team to realize just how thick it is. I can't wait until he's gone.

they will be a really desperate team at home when we play them gave the panthers all the they handle at their place so it will be hard the team will have to play well

I don't think he's going to be playing for a while yet. It seems like they're not real optimistic about him for a while there.

It won't be easy, but this isn't the 2009 Saints...(the ones who benefited from numerous yellow flags because the NFL felt sorry for us after Katrina. Yeah, I went there.) These Saints were 3-5 in the Superdome last year. WITH Drew Brees.

And I'm only saying "it won't be easy" because we're banged up. If we had Romo and Dez, we would walk all over them. They're defense is beyond pitiful.

Unconfirmed, but my son heard Brees is playing. Source: my son watches/listens to A LOT of sports programming, and some of it's local...it might just be something someone said in passing so I can't get a link for it (I looked, there's nothing yet.) He just came in to tell me (read: taunt) what he just heard.

i'm sure he'll try but you don't get strength back in a week usually. i'm sitting him in fantasy football even given our defense.

I hope he starts and doesn't last past the first series. I am playing against him in Fantasy this week so it would be a double win.

Sean Payton is in the Bellichick school of clouding all injury news, so whatever your son thinks he heard is meaningless. The Saints don't need to provide any meaningful news until Friday, so they won't.

Yes. He played it the same way last week.
