The Lions signed quarterback Drew Henson off the practice squad today. He likely will back up Daunte Culpepper on Thursday against Tennessee.

Drew Stanton suffered a concussion in Sunday’s 38-20 loss to Tampa Bay. Dan Orlovsky is still recovering from a broken thumb. Coach Rod Marinelli called Stanton's availability “very, very doubtful.”

Henson, the two-sport phenom who played for Michigan, the Yankees and Cowboys, signed a two-year contract. The plan is for him for go through the Lions’ off-season and compete for a roster spot next season.

There is a decent chance he could play against the Titans. Culpepper has been pulled in two of his three starts, and the Titans are 10-1. The Lions are 0-11.

The Lions have a lot of injuries. Defensive end Jared DeVries is scheduled to have surgery Tuesday after breaking his left hand again Sunday. Center Dominic Raiola (hand) likely will miss at least one more game.

Defensive end Dewayne White (calf) and cornerback Keith Smith (groin) are among those who will test their injuries Tuesday but appear doubtful.
