I've run into him a couple of times through the years. He was always so gracious to me and other fans. Seemed genuine. Hard to believe he is only 11 years older than me. He was my idol when I was a kid.

I met him here in Tucson a few years ago at an autograph signing. He is a class guy all the way around.

i was 15 years old working at Tom Thumb groceries when i was helping a man out with his groceries. i got to his nice SUV and that's when i got a really good look at him and realized it was Drew Pearson. i told him my uncle loved him and how i wish we still had players like him on the team. he was shocked someone my age knew who he was but we chit chatted for a little bit...very nice man, gave me a nice tip too.

Kind of hard to tell with all the layers he's wearing. But his QB (older still) certainly looks at least as good. Special Cowboy legends.

Two things to consider:

1. Drew Pearson made his bones in a league where the DB's could cream wide receivers. What pass interference?

2. Drew Pearson would have the benefit of today's pansy rules.

My premise is the pansy rules of today would even out and given Pearson a competitive edge over a guy like Alan Ball. We weren't talking about comparative stats with T.O.

Owens? You went there? Why, for Heaven's sake??

Eat Pearson for breakfast? A huge over-statement IMO. Owens is a great WR, and he had great speed, great strength, played sixty minutes, but still- why bring him into the conversation celebrating a 61st birthday? C'mon man.

You would never hear Pearson saying that he loved himself. He would give it all for his team, and his own accolades were last on his list of things to do. Maybe that doesn't mean anything for some, it does to me. All things being equal, I'd take Pearson. Be best for the TEAM, ya' know?
