Be completely honest here. How Do you feel in our odds going up against this type of passing attack?

As a group they have more passing weapons then We do.... We have T.O and Witten...that's it. Miles Austin and Hurd? HUge Question Mark. We need Crayton.

Anyways on to my point...PAckers have a great group of wr's and it will be tough. Real tough, so dont be crying any rivers if we cannot stop them...Just hope Our Line gets pressure and Favre makes stupid mistakes.. Also prepare for that short inside Slant to Driver and Jennings. Favre love that play.

HUge test for our guys....It's going to take everything We have. IF they come out on top it IMO will prove OUr defense is heading in the right direction...If we dont then we still have the Same Old crap from last couple years...Good games here and there against crapy teams and give away city against good offensive teams.

We're definitely going to have trouble with the Packers' receivers.

Will Crayton be back for the Packers game?

I think that Newman and Henry can take care of the top two receivers (Driver and Jennings?), and Reeves shouldn't have too much of a problem with Jones.

The thing about the Packers' play is to make sure tackles, preventing the WR's from getting YAC.

The secondary will definitely need to execute well in order for us to win this game. It'll be tough, and I'm sure the Packers will have their fair share of points.

Anytime they go to a five-wide receiver offense, that leaves DeMarcus Ware 1-on-1 against a tackle. Mark Tauscher has already allowed five sacks this season and shouldn't come close to handling Ware's speed.

Didn't Tauscher get dinged up last game, too?

And I honestly don't even know how good Chad Clifton is. I know they are usually pretty well coached, kind of like the Giants line with no-namers who seem to play well together.

Anyway, IMO they're going to get rid of the ball so fast, we won't be able to get tons of pressure. I think we need to be very conscious of dropping LBs into passing lanes and them getting their hands up so we can bat down some of those quick slants (like Carp did in the Seattle game last year vs. the WCO) and/or get some INTs.

I know the league is changing to allow more passing, but I still have to believe that there's a reason those old run and shoot teams never won it all. I still think you need some balance, and throwing it every down won't work against the best teams.

We will rush them right out of their 5 wideout set. Watch and see.

I agree. I think the way you beat this team is to blitz often. Brett has played extremely well this year, but I feel he'll make some of the player we have come to see from him the last couple of years if pressure is on him. We need to make him rush his throws and decisions.

The matchup I don't like is GB's 4th WR against our 4th CB Nate Jones.

We are not going to see anything much different than we saw Vs NE. The difference this time is we will have Henry. The NE game will be our learning tool Vs GB. Also having Reeves play so much this year will benefit us this game.

Earlier this season, Henry was jumping slants...pretty sure one of his pics came that way. So if he's close to 100% he might be ready for their slants. What concerns me is a) if he is not 100% yet and b) if they pump fake the slant and run a go route while Henry's already bit.

ruvell martin had 1 catch each in the past two games and 12 for the entire year. he looks more like a decoy.

:hammer:

Koren Robinson and Ruvell Martin scare me about as much as Miles Austin and Isaiah Stanback would if I were an opponent of the Cowboys and they showed a 5 WR set.

There is something to be said for doing it to spread a team out, but if Wade is sittin here trying to figure out who's NOT going to beat us, it's those two guys. Even with Nate Jones playing.

This isn't Wes Welker we're dealing with at the 4 and 5 WR spots. Robinson and Martin are plate spinners. I'm not suggesting letting those guys run wide open obviously, but i don't worry about them beating us.

Our top 3 CBs should be fine. I think a dime package on coverage, and sending 5 guys at Favre should slow down the 5 wide sets enough.

I agree...everyone keeps talking bout how oru secondary will handle them, but their OL is going o have to handle our defensive front...and I havent seen a player this yr who has consistently blocked Ware 1-1, and Ellis is really playing well too...then you have Ratliff, Tank Johnson and Bowen inside to block as well

he might complete 30 passes on us Thursday, but as long as they are all of the short variety and we tackle well, they shouldnt score more than 21-24

Go Cowboys:star:

R. Martin 12 catches, 173 yards, long of 36 yards, 3 td's

K. Robinson 11 catches, 177 yards, long of 43 (fairly skewed), 0 td's

our very own S. Hurd 11 catches 177 yards, 16.1 ypc, and 1 td

....I fail to see how those guys are that much more intimidating than Hurd. I'd say they are all rather pedestrian after Driver, Jones, and Jennings.

It's not like we don't have our own threats. Two Rb's that are good pass catchers. THREE TE's that have outstanding hands. Austin has looked terrific as of late.

The problem is that even Ware won't get there before Favre throws those 3-4 yard passes that often turn into big plays. And even a couple of sacks won't deter the Pack...they throw so much, 2nd and 20 or 3rd and 15 doesn't seem to phase them.

I still think the key isn't sacks...the keys are 1) yes, you have to make Favre move the pocket a little, not just set his feet and take his time but the real key is 2) make the tackles on the WR's every time...you have to be in position to make the tackle and concede some of the short passes. Good tackling will beat the Packers if our offense continues to score.

This is where I hope Wade comes up with some zone blitz and drop LB's into those passing lanes. That along with some pressure will result in some big hits or TO.

We need everyone of our DL to play and play well because pass rushing will be exhausting and will wear you down. That's when the Packs run the ball most effectively.

Good tackling is a MUST. Most of Favre's completion are less than 10 yds on those slants but YAC is huge. The only game that Pack lost is against the Bears who tackled well and strip the ball from their WRs.

Um... Detroit, Washington, Kansas City, and Denver all bitzed the Packers heavily and Favre had at least one bombing TD or at least a play close to it in each game. The thing is that this Offense cant be beaten by blitzing heavily. The Packers throw the WR screens and short slants. So when they throw it short they pick up yards that accumilate. So to beat it let them catch it and hit the recievers. Dont let them get the yards after the catch. Blitzing is why teams have lost to the Pack. The more you blitz means you have less to cover. Its not Driver and Jennings Im worried about. Its K-ROB, Jones, and Martin. Heck Ill thorw Lee in. Once you think youve got the Packers offense beat they start runnnig and Play actioning. This offense isnt the best but it matches up better to every defense in the league. Im a believer that this offense is unstopable. However my theory is to let them catch and dont let them get the YAC.
