I thought the Eagles killed their cap with Murray, Bradford, Maxwell, Wentz.....etc

The idea that the cap keeps teams from doing big, long-term deals is something owners and gms tried to feed fans. Big deals are generally cap friendly early, then as they get bigger in later years, the cap has gone up and the deal isn't so gigantic.

The Eagles dumpped a lot of committed money and players on other teams, but are absorbing a lot of gauranteed money this year only.. So I'm sure Cox's contract prob is back loaded to help thier cap space

FYI.. The Eagles have done some "head scratching" moves this offseason, but I'll hand it to them.. I've never seen another team dump salary and wash their hands of the old regime in one offseason as they have... Kinda sucks, I was kinda hoping it would hold them hostage for a few years.. Lol, but giving up all those draft picks for another QB kinda made me feel better..

I'm really surprised they got what they did in trades. Particularly given how bad Murray and Maxwell looked

that was explained very well but I was being factitious....I am very much pro-spending over the cap...the cap increases that last 3 years have made it almost irrelevant....

Whatever money they saved by getting rid of the other players, that just went out the window.

How will they now pay their offensive line?

That is why they drafted a dual threat qb in Wentz. He will be scrambling for his life and since they have no 1st Rd pick next year, he still will be.

The salary cap is a joke. Teams can manipulate it enough so they can pretty much sign any player they want.

Extremely overrated player in my opinion. I think Eagles fans talked their way into tricking everyone into thinking this guy is way better than he is. He's good but not that good. That contract is a small victory for Cowboys fans.

LOL at Cowboy fans on Twitter saying this deal proves the deal Cowboys gave Crawford is a steal.

Those two players are not in the same atmosphere.

No, not even close. Cox is leagues better than Crawford.

They will have a damn good D line. Schwartz has a defense similar to the what they have when Jimmy Johnson was their defensive coach. This means 315 pound Logan and Cox will be the inside with Curry and probably Barwin on the outside. Curry and Barwin are very good are rushing the passer and Cox/Logan can both run stuff pretty good. Whether or not Barwin can hold up as a DE is up for debate, but they have more talent on the D line than we do, and it's really not debatable.

The Eagles have invested 280 million in guaranteed money on players since January of this year. The next highest total is the Giants at 140 million. So they've at least doubled the entire league in spending for 2016.

I'd say Howie is happy to be back at the gig.
