Ngata will be very pricey.

Ngata would be perfect, but I just do not see the Cowboys putting that investment into the one-tech.

Sam Hill from the Titans not Vols.

He is a FA and classic 1T he isn't going to sack the QB often but he will collapse the QB in his face and make him scramble. He's a load that requires double teams. He gave Fred issues last year and Fred is a boss.

I also think that because of his modest sack totals and other huge names out there that he will be moderately priced.

I think he made $4.5MM this year. Ian Williams made like just under $2MM. Ngata made over $8.5MM.

For comparison sake that further illustrates maybe what marinelli thinks of having a quality 1 Tech..................... Hayden makes like $700K.

Ok, Your in Front office inner circle, you have now invested heavily in your 3-tech of the future (Crawford), it looks like you may have found a backup with a pretty good ceiling (Irving) to groom. Your DE's are starting to look promising. What has let your front down this year ?
Again, your big money player is injured, and fighting thru it - why ? Because your low priced, try hard but do little 1-tech cannot take on the double teams consistently.
Your D.C. says he doesn't value the position - well, hasn't that turned out to be the reason your big money 3-tech is playing hurt ? Aren't we still getting gashed up the middle ?
This draft has a hell of a lot of DT's coming out, identify one or two that are quick twitch and strong (Billings) and commit some resources to that position - ya know, so you can have your play maker/high priced 3-tech live up to his contract.
I keep saying it's not rocket science, but maybe it is - it shouldn't be this hard to see the forest thru the trees !

Well maybe Marinelli should change it a bit. It's clear that going cheap with an all effort, limited talented DT isn't a rousing success.

So maybe, spend a little cash on an upgrade. No, don't go and spend $10MM a year for Ngata or someone like that. But throw $4MM at say a Hill or Williams? Absolutely.

If you want to add depth to the defensive line via draft, you draft A'Shawn Robinson from Univ. of Alabama and its not even close.

Kid is the best defensive lineman entering the draft whom can play in a 3-4 or 4-3. Robinson has trimmed some bad weight and its paying off dividends this year..

Depending onthe draft order and whose available, I would consider trading back inthe 1st and draft Ashawn Robinson while picking up extra draft picks inthe process.

If Marinelli wants another three down DT inside to pair with Tyrone Crawford, get out Jerry Jones' checkbook and pay whatever it takes to get such a player.

We need a playmaker at NT who can make opposing offenses pay if they single block him and focus on Crawford.

Terrell McClain will have another shot next season and he has ability, but he's been too injury-prone to date to count on in 2016.

Defensive end, with the return of Hardy, should be a dominant team strength. Mix together, Lawrence; Douglas; Hardy; and Mincey...well, that already is a full rotation.

Myself, I would put Crawford as a prime piece for a rotational defensive tackle group. But I would put defensive tackle, as well as a truly dominant #3 DT high up on the list of needs. I would even go to free agency to get a journeyman for an even stronger defensive tackle rotation.

The truth of the matter is that we have a bunch of DE's, two converted to 3-Tech, but in reality we have no true DT's.

Hayden doesn't count and Terrell McClain has been injured for two seasons.. Cupboard is empty.

Tyrone Crawford and Irving would set the world on fire at the 3-Tech position If we had a solid 1-Tech that commands double teams, instead we have Hayden and our 3-Techs (Who are really DE's) get double teamed..

Teams gash us in the middle and often our LB's are eating guards and getting abused...

This secondary desperately needs a retooling, and in wanting to create a certain mindset and focus in this secondary, I'm replacing the old regime wherever I can. Put whatever you'd pay Carr and Claiborne towards Janoris Jenkins, a very very solid corner and great in zone.Scandrick/Jenkins at CB with Jones having position flex allows you to take the BPA in the secondary during draft at some point in the first few rounds. I'd target both Jenkins and Gipson but I'm greedy.

Did Tyrone Crawford start the year injured? Cause he was invisible at the beginning of the year too. The amount of excuse making for this guy from Broaddus is amazing.

He's better than the stats indicate, but he's not nearly disruptive enough to be the 3tech on a great Marinelli defense.

On the bright side, Lawrence was winning just about every snap vs the Jets. He and Hardy are really crashing in the edges. Unfortunately we've got nothing coming up from the inside at DT to take advantage of it and we can't effectively send a LB to save our life.

That's a fair, as well as solid appraisal...but I question the removal of all the real experience that is filling out the secondary group.

Last season, there was a lot more activity in the secondary. Not so much this season. That has something to do with the injury status, and growth value in the other areas of the defense.
