Duke Manyweather works with all 5 Cowboys OL

I agree on the starting five. There’s zero shot it happens. Why? Money and draft status.

Steeles contract, plus they will not move Smith to LT when he is up for an extension. They also won’t bench last years first rounder.

Things like this is why a Jerry run team never wins. Well, one of many, many reasons.
So you, also, would have all five starting o-line positions filled by someone new.

Makes sense.

Too many people think that o-line is just plug and play, everyone is the same, mix them up and hope for the best

I’m trying to not get the QB killed. Smith has played LT well before, which is more than Guyton ever has….and speaking of expecting plug and play….didn’t our great FO ask two rookies to switch positions and start last year? And I’m the bad guy? Ok.

Under my proposal, none of them would be playing a position they are unfamiliar with or haven’t played well at on some level before now.

Again with Tyler Smith as LT.

Why? Just to get Hoffman in the starting lineup?

With your plan all five OL positions would have someone new. Zero continuity.

That’s crazy.
the best five ought to be in there.

New? Hoffman has played everywhere but Tackle. Hès played meaningful downs at guard and center. Its hardly a stretch to have him starting at center. Why the resistance to having Hoff in there? The only new guy is the rookie. I am not understanding your logic I guess.

Jerry has nothing to do with it.
You sure? Jerry has admitted he tells his HC what “he’d like to see more of,” meaning…do what I’m telling you to do.

It’s nice to talk about running the ball, but when you’re either behind in a game, or not having success, or losing games…all while not leaning on the best playmakers on your offense…they will be a pass first team before all that long.

If RB is such a consensus question mark, why do they think they will be able to run at will?

That’s why I’m skeptical on Guyton at LT and Steele at RT. The pass blocking is extremely shaky and it’s kinda dumb to put your franchise QB at such risk because you gave out a bad contract and/or blew a first rounder (as of now on the latter).

Things change if the light has gone on for Guyton when the bell rings.

2024
LT - Guyton
LG - Smith
C - Beebe
RG - Martin
RT - Steele

2025
LT - Smith
LG - Beebe
C - Hoffman
RG - Booker
RT - Guyton

I see this as a negative for Guyton, Beebe and Smith, all to get Hoffman in the starting lineup.

Reps and familiarity have meaning. It’s not just mix and match, especially with such a young group

I read it , and it sounds like they are getting better coaching now!

They could surprise , hopefully in the run game.
When this Oline comes together and gels Dallas will run the football ,I think we will see a much improved offense this season. Better coaching will do wonders for this football team, and Booker was a great pick at 12 and will fit this unit like a glove .

Guyton needs to show up. He was a project draft pick to begin with, add lazy to that and it’s a problem. So hopefully he gets his head screwed on right.

Didn’t happen with Mazi or Trysten hill. But hey. Here we are.
Guyton is not lazy. Where do you get that from?

No matter, I have full confidence in the new Line coach to get the chemistry right. As long as he says he has the best 5 in there, I'm good with it. Solari on the other hand was dug in on Hoffman and I see why, but it was to a fault. I thought CB should have been our LG day 1.

Great article. Really in depth. Other than the bit about Berne, I didn’t see anything that really reflected on Solari. Was that what you were referring to?
assuming his work with steele and how it affected his return

Me too. I still think his best position is RT. Solari did him no favors. In my opinion, our best 5 starters, left to right should be: Smith, Bebee, Hoffman, Booker, Guyton/Steele. Steele or Guyton can be the swing. Hoff never gets the cred he should. My eyes tell me he's the more effective center. That opinion will be very unpopular around here but it's what I see consistently when he was in there.
100% agree, brother. I've been saying the same thing since last season.

Again with Tyler Smith as LT.

Because Hoffman could become the better Center. Beebe definitely could become a better Guard which he mastered in college. Same goes for Tyler Smith moving back to Left Tackle which he mastered in college. Guyton was way better playing Right Tackle in college than he was forced to suddenly play Left Tackle last year as a pro.

Rookie Tyler Booker gets to stay at his college mastered position of Right Guard, so why not keep Hoffman, Beebe, Smith and Guyton at their mastered college positions? Just to appease some dumb NFL ex-coach?

I would do whatever it takes to get these young linemen to play the positions they best can play, thus allow me to front the best starting 5 moving forward (regardless of contracts, draft status or whose feelings get hurt).

Our views aren't kindly wanted on this particular topic lol. Because I guess we are in the minority. All I know is this, Hoffman was getting the job done at center, but CB was struggling snapping the ball because it was a new position for him, one he hadn't played since highschool. It's a lot to ask. I felt we were trying to fix something by creating another problem in the process, if that makes sense. I say that because to me, why switch him? We had the need for a guard, so leave the guy there! It's his natural position. Smith had no issue at LT. OH WELL, let's see what our oline coach does.

Smith didn’t master tackle in college.

He was the most penalized tackle in college. Hence why he is at guard.

I guess we’ll see what the coaches say.

All of this to force Smith to play LT when he’s twice been to the pro bowl as a guard.

But out of need, and injury with Tyron Smith , in Tyler's rookie year, was forced into playing LT. HE DID IT MASTERFULLY. He was elite. CB should have never been switched to center. To me, he's an all pro guard. Why tinker with that unless a major injury happens at center? Then I can understand the move. We created a potential problem by doing so, in my opinion.

All facts, great bullet points. Valid questions. I think it gets sorted out in Oxnard by our new position coach. I trust him.
