Duke Manyweather works with all 5 Cowboys OL

Compared to Tyron at that time, he was. Tyron was slipping.
yeah, Smith was up and down with injuries for sure.

I'm hopeful with the re-emphasis on the position switched that Guyton and Beebe can get better this year. I though Beebe had a pretty good rookie season myself. I like Hoffman too. Good problem to have.

Reports of him not taking TC and coaching seriously last year and the whole reason he had to re commit to it this year ?
Immaturity, if you can even label it that, is vastly different than lazy. Kid was here working with Duke like 2 days after draft. Not the sign of a lazy person, he did that on his own.

Recommitted? You say that like it's a bad thing, first of all. It's a sign that he is growing up wants to master his craft and get better.

He hired a nutritionist and all reports are he's been working hard remaking his body is the off-season. Again not signs of laziness.

He was a 21 year old kid. There are plenty of things I didn't take seriously at that age, but didn't make me lazy.

great article. Sheds light on the disconnect between Solari and DM, and the linemen. Wow, you ask a guy to move to center, be the starter, and you don't even coach him up? lol.... Thats just lazy. I still think Bebees best position is guard. I think Hoffman should be our center. Hoff plays mean and nasty, as does Cooper Bebee. Camp just might be very interesting this year. I think this new staff will shake things up with the oline. Let us not forget about Asim Richards who has quietly stuck around, gotten better. Where he fits in is yet to be seen but I think starting RT could be in his future, although Guyton may end up there.
I think Hoffman has already reached his ceiling and Cooper is just scratching the surface at center. Cooper will be the better player overall at both positions with time and growth. We do need the best five on the line though.

Great article. Really in depth. Other than the bit about Berne, I didn’t see anything that really reflected on Solari. Was that what you were referring to?
"Honestly, he was moved to center, and he really didn't have any detailed coaching or development in-season or making that transition," Manyweather said.

You sure? Jerry has admitted he tells his HC what “he’d like to see more of,” meaning…do what I’m telling you to do.

It’s nice to talk about running the ball, but when you’re either behind in a game, or not having success, or losing games…all while not leaning on the best playmakers on your offense…they will be a pass first team before all that long.

If RB is such a consensus question mark, why do they think they will be able to run at will?

That’s why I’m skeptical on Guyton at LT and Steele at RT. The pass blocking is extremely shaky and it’s kinda dumb to put your franchise QB at such risk because you gave out a bad contract and/or blew a first rounder (as of now on the latter).

Things change if the light has gone on for Guyton when the bell rings.

He just has to disagree with everything I say it's in his player salary

I agree. Hoffman's scrappiness helps him survive but it doesn't make him any less powerful. Beebe has power in abundance. Hoffman is a great player to have as a backup, though.

  • This is good news after last year's hemorrhoid.

Sounds like there is real competition at Left Tackle between Asim Richard’s and Guyton.

Evidently Richard’s has greatly improved and this isn’t just a Guyton is bad thing but Richard’s is legit thing.

Again with Tyler Smith as LT.

Why? Just to get Hoffman in the starting lineup?

With your plan all five OL positions would have someone new. Zero continuity.

That’s crazy.
I’ve been hearing the Cowboys really like Asim Richard’s and he’s in legit competition to be the starting Left Tackle.

When did you hear that?

I recall one off season blurb before OTAs where his name was mentioned but nothing since.

Guytons issue wasn’t “want to”, it was how to respond from adversity. He felt hurt, he’d sit. He got beat in a rep he’d want to quit, This is common for players now especially when in college if they don’t like being told no they can transfer.

Hopefully Riley being a college coach recently can help with that mindset.

Evidence of this?

Guyton has his warts for sure. But I think people forget how little of football the kid has played. He didn't play until his senior year in HS 2019. And don't play OT until college in 2021. And that was on the right side.

Drafted at 21 he was young very raw and had no idea how to be a professional football player.

What he does have are elite traits. His footwork is very good. 2 days after draft he moved to Dallas and started to work with Mayweather, doesn't speak to lazy or weak minded.

Then the article comes out that Bebee had no practical training at his new spot in season. Don't think it's a stretch to wonder the same question for Guyton.

He remade his body in off season is taking accountability for his own part said he didn't take it seriously enough and played poorly.

Kid had no shot really with that coaching staff last year.

Agree...I think it also may have just been immaturity....he didn't know what it was going to take to make the transition. It is a lot to ask of a young player.
