So the Eagles embrace having a sense of urgency, a closing window, and the need to get it done this year...while we fault our owner for trying to instill the same feeling.

Romo contradicts our owner who shoots back, and our biggest star, Ware, waits a week or two to agree about the closing window, probably to avoid contradicting his QB.

What does it all mean? Not a damn thing. However, maybe Jerry wouldn't chime in to light a fire if the players were doing it themselves. I won't revisit the silly "we don't have leaders" argument, but there's no arguing that our leaders may not know how to lead within a successful, winning formula; they haven't had a chance to experience that in the NFL.

Something is still missing that a coach cannot instill; perhaps some of our players who know how to push themselves individually to excellence will feel father time at their heels and develop an intensity and anger for anything that falls short of excellence and perfection in their teammates that they will expect and demand more of everyone around them, including the pups and rookies.

Romo did not contradict Jerry. Who told you that?

I just watched on ESPN, they had a story about the entire Eagles organization having a sense of urgency to win now. I think they will be very good. A little concerned after seeing their draft.

I don't see the eagles window closing at all. They have a young and talented team other than vicks age.

You leave out the fact Romo says there is urgency every year. Taking one sentence out of Romo statement is a bit of a reach. I’m sure Romo does not feel his window is closing he plans on playing a few more years but in the meantime he has talked about the importance of this season.

Andy Reid keeps the Eagles window open. Just look at the teams he built. The McNabb-Westbrook-Dawkins trio won tons of games (5 NFC championship games) and went to the SB and fell, the McNabb era got one last shot in 2008 and fell again. Now Dawkins is on NFL Network and McNabb is jobless. Then he a built a new team.

They just don't die. Reid hasn't missed the playoffs in two consecutive seasons. They don't really seem to have a closing period where they suck for a while and rebuild. McNabbs time ran out and that team was replaced and now they feel like they can contend seriously for the first time since 2008 (completely different team).

They're loaded with talent and their very beloved and much derided coach has 0 superbowls despite winning so much, so they're hungry for a championship and if history suggests anything they'll probably be good. The sense of urgency is because of Andy Reid "almosts".

I guess here everyone just feels like the sense of urgency is like with the players the Eagles had not being able to get that ring even though they were close while we haven't been. McNabb Westbrook and Dawkins is like Romo Witten and Ware. They won't last forever and if they don't get close to the big one then we'll have to blow everything up and build a team over again like some people think we are now.

I kind of typed my thoughts so it might be very clear sorry I'm answering quickly.

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys' head coach and quarterback don't believe the team's sense of urgency has increased despite owner Jerry Jones expressing concern that the current roster's window to contend for a title is closing.

Jason Garrett and quarterback Tony Romo agree that the Cowboys have a strong sense of urgency, but they say that's standard operating procedure.

"It's not closing," Romo said after Wednesday's organized team activity workout. "I think there's a sense of urgency every year that you play, whether it's your first year in the league or your 22nd. You never know when all that stuff is going to happen, so you just play every year as if it's an urgent day. Forget about thinking about the end of the year or two months away. You've got to get better today. Whether you're a rookie or an 11-year veteran around here, you've got to do that same approach.

I think this is the right attitude and one Garrett has been preaching to the guys of every day is important, you don't worry about a game 3 months away the object is to get better today and the next day.

come on doomsday, why are you showing us what he said in context??? how can we rip on Romo now???

I don't know, I get tired of taking 1 sentence from a players comment and act as if that was all that was said. I'm sure if people only took one sentence out of what many people say then the true meaning of what they were getting at does not come out the same.

Romo says he does not feel the window is closing? ok but there was more to the statement than that sizzling headline.

of course, i get it, and totally agree. I just didnt have the energy to go find it and post here. Instead I just said he did not contradict jerry, and when another poster replied that he did, I replied in kind to "show me", knowing full well that was an impossible task to complete.
