Eagles D is a good example how we should finish the Defense

You shocked me about Trey ;). We arent getting him a) Spotrac has him valued at $33m per and Jerry's not paying that.
Just remember this, Jerry has always valued that position, just as much as WR and CB. These are the positions that they have traded for and use high picks at. They did try to land him via trade with the Bengals. Agree, it is a long-shot, but they can create the space to make such a signing.

Jaquan Brisker
Reed Blankship
Kameren Curl
Kevin Byard
Here is some available next year? Go after Trey, Jerry has to open up that wallet Then in the draft you can go after the guys you want let the draft come to you.
I remember Reed Blankenship on that Monday night game I think against the Packers. He intercepted Rogers. I think he was playing because Gardner Johnson went down with an injury.

I looked the guy up back then because I hadn't heard of him before.

Guy graduated from Middle Tennessee State university, went un drafted in 2022 and the birds signed him.

This is no different than the the un drafted receiver they picked up this year, Darious Copper, who went un drafted and played college ball only an hour away from the Cowboys Stadium.

We talk about the big names that the birds can get, but it seems that they actually develop young players in back up roles, then move them to start when needed, and they actually produce.

This is where a NFL team is more than just the high name players they draft, but the guys who fly under the radar and become good players due to the work and good coaching IMO.

It just seems like they are doing things right and it bugs the crap out of me that we aren't doing the same thing.

This is often forgotten. Player development is huge.

Moro Ojomo was a 7th round pick in 2023, allowed to learn a year with limited playing time, was put into the rotation last year as the 4th DT, and proved himself enough that Milton Williams was not resigned. Ojomo is currently the 8th ranked DT in the NFL. Why can't we do this?

Can you imagine the Cowboys taking a rugby player with no American football knowledge at all and turning him into one of the best OT's in the game?

Maybe their scouting department is better. It was Roseman that asked Stoutland to go to Tampa's International Pathway Program's location and look at Mailata. Would our GM ever have that type of foresight?

They took Hurts because they thought he could be like prime Russell Wilson and lead them to a Super Bowl. Well, turns out that he played in two, not one, and may play in another before his career is over.

Someone in Philly is doing something right. Someone in Dallas is not.

When you say 'valued the position', when was that, he may well draft the position, but not spending in Free Agency.
Jerry certainly can create the space, but then again so can most other teams and how many top FA's has he splashed out on.
He's going to sign a low-mid Vet and draft in First Round.

They play a 3-4 front with a zone scheme under Fangio:

DE-Ojomo, Carter
NT-Davis

1 star in Carter, kind of like we have with Williams

Edge-Phillips, Nolan Smith

2 former 1st rd picks that have had just ok careers thus far, we have a need for another high-end edge

Linebackers-Baun, Dean

Baun is one of their top stars on defense. We don't have a player like Baun on this roster.

Corners-Mitchell, Jackson
Nickel-DeJean

Mitchell is their top corner, but DeJean might be the better player. We really need Revel to become that top corner

S-Blankenship, Mukuba
Not attacking but there isn’t a GM in the league taking a stud nickel CB (Dejean) over a top 5 lead CB in Quinyon. But I agree, Dejean is damn good!
What’s concerning is the new DE they got from Miami was fantastic his first game.

I would love to Perrion Winfrey to be our Moro Ojomo where we could afford to let Clark walk next season but it seems like we aren't going to activate him for some reason. Maybe a redshirt year for him? I would love to get him on the field and into the DT rotation. He will probably be better than Jay Toia at least this season.

Trying not to sound too anti homer but out of their 11 compared to ours, they win on a man for man basis at every level just about.
And in many cases, by a landslide performance wise.

Potential or flashes of a select few is what the Cowboys have.

Dejean, Mitchell, Baun all standout in coverage.

They did give Fowler a decent fa contract this year and that was with Parsons on the team. There are a few edge rushers who will be out there that makes sense to give a 1 or 2 yr contract as a bridge. If they want to take advantage of having a franchise QB they need to cash in now and worry about the cap after Dak comes off the books.

Eagles have struggled in drafting, until recently, but unlike the Cowboys when they see a mistake, they go out and fix it.

Jihaad Campbell I read is also elite in coverage. Looks like they struck out on the 2 new corners they traded for leaving them with a big hole at CB2 but looks as if they may have hit a grand slam with the new DE from Miami. I watched one of those Baldy Breakdowns on him after their last game and he was everywhere

Since 2021, the Eagles drafts have been solid, with major contributors including DeVonta Smith, Landon Dickerson, Milton Williams (gone in FA), Jordan Davis, Cam Jurgens, Nakobe Dean, Grant Calcaterra, Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Tyler Steen, Sydney Brown, Kelee Ringo, Moro Ojomo, Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Jalyx Hunt, Will Shipley, Jihaad Campbell and Andrew Mukuba. There are stars (Smith, Dickerson, Davis, Carter, Mitchell), starters (Jurgens, Dean, Smith, Steen, DeJean, Hunt) and key players. I think it's fair to say that overall they've drafted really well, supplemented with free agents.

One can hope.

starts with getting the right DC
which is where we always fail

They have missed on several players in the past, but made trades before those assets became nothing, such as Wentz. I believe that pick, so gave them an additional 1 after the Saints traded up the following year, that pick turned out to be Carter.

Fowler got $6m, not the $33m that Spotrac's predicting Hendrickson will get.
It's not happening, Jerry doesn't swim in that FA pool where he has to compete with other teams.

Kinda supports a pretty strong drafting resume.
And well beyond solid even.
