Eagles best pressure player in Jalen Carter, similar to what we now have in Q. Williams. What does their rest of their defense look like:

Ojomo 3T (Milton Williams was there before, this would be Osa)
Davis/Kenny Clark (both are considered elite run defenders who offer some rush potential, Davis had a breakout yr)
Carter/Williams-the stars of the defense that force consistent double teams

Edge-Phillips/Nolan Smith (Ez probably projects more towards Smith then he does Phillips, Phillips is a fa and when healthy very good edge rusher. Cowboys have to find their Phillips type of edge rusher.

LB-Baun/Dean (Baun might be the best coverage LB in the game, where Dean is more of a downhill player like Overshown) Cowboys need that elite linebacker in the middle of their defense.

CB-Mitchell/Jackson-Mitchell is considered a top 3 corner in this league.
Nickel-DeJean-perhaps the best nickel in the game.

S-Blankenship/Mukuba*-Blankenship is a solid veteran who lines everyone up. Mukuba was a top pick last season with elite upside.

Getting solid experienced veterans at MLB and Safety will solidify the back 7. We need an elite edge rusher and corner to make that huge step forward!

So….don’t screw up the draft picks and also find the next Zack Baun. I’m sure they are on it.

We will know all about next years team by late March. If they think they can rely on the draft only to get better…..well then they truly haven’t learned that lesson and the rest is moot.

I would bet nearly anything that they think those two first rounders are immediate impact starters….and they more than likely aren’t.

You just compared Philadelphia and Dallas player for player on defense and Dallas had comparable players, but the results were vastly different.

Eberflus couldn't even get the defense to be average with similar pieces that Fangio made one of the best in the NFL.

Dallas is not that far off if they can solve the defensive coordinator position, especially with a top three offense.

Kenny Clark is not an elite run defender. He’s average, at best. He’s living off a perception that isn’t even based on prior performance.

He’s a nice player and I’m happy he’s here but he’s going to be grossly overpaid and Jerry is compelled to keep him because to dump him after a single season has terrible optics and would hurt his pride.

He was considered an elite run defender in the past, but I agree he isn't that same player. Still think they lower is cap number and bring him back.

Absolutely, they need to nail the DC hire to have a chance!

Barf. Never in my Cowboys history would I have ever thought I would see fans wanting to be like the Eagles. Not me, I want to always be better than them, not like them. They are not the 85 bears defense. Their butts are sitting home too.

If we land Parker, that is a possibility.
Parker said himself when Dean came back there defense played at a different level. Would not be opposed to us getting 2 corners in the first, I’ll take one of the DE’s from Miami tho, david Bailey also..

The Eagles first 2 picks in the 2024 draft were both cornerbacks and both selected to be 1st team All Proa this year.

So....like....we just need to to draft a bunch of all pros this year, and we'll be good too. Shouldn't be that hard.
im thinkin jerry can pull it off

“Cowboys have to find their Phillips type of edge rusher”

Might be hard.

Hey what about Jaelan Philips? He’s an unrestricted free agent in March.

Going to have to steal him away from Philly

I saw plenty of times where he was quite disruptive…..waaaaay more than Osa….i think if we want a better D, we keep Q And Clark, I’d let Osa go before Clark…..Q and Clark work well together.

Osa can’t go without a massive dead money hit. Like $18m

Underrated comment. Clarke is a good player but his best asset is as a pass rusher. He can still flash at times in the run game but goes MIA just as much. We are going off of perception about Clarke more than what the tape has said the last two years.

People choose to ignore that even as a packer, their fans saw him more as a pass rusher and recognized he was an average run defender

And, the bad word “pff”, shows that ice the years his run defense grades weee always lower than his pass rush grades.

But he’s a DT and over 300 and Jerry went on and on that trading Micah would not have happened without an elite “run stuffer”.

Meanwhile in 2024, Micah had a better run defense grade than Clark in all four of his seasons.

Clark
2021: 54.7
2022: 53.0
2023: 61.2
2024: 57.1

Micah
'21: 59.9
'22: 73.2
'23: 68.1
'24: 65.5

I really like Clark and want to keep him, but I have a realistic set of expectations
