We deserve everything thrown at us. Besides, it will make it that much sweeter when we reach the pinnacle once again.

I can't believe an Eagles executive tried to criticize the Cowboys by mentioning SB victories.

"Joe Banner took a few shots at the already reeling Dallas Cowboys today when he told the Eagles' web site he would would not have traded three draft picks in 2009, including a first- and third-rounder, to the Detroit Lions for wide receiver Roy Williams. "I mean, they paid a lot,'' said Banner, who confirmed the Eagles (3-3) did attempt to trade for Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez prior to the Oct. 14 deadline."

"Time will tell. I wouldn't pay that much for a player like that.'' The injury-ravaged Cowboys (4-3) also sent a sixth-round selection and picked up Detroit's seventh rounder next April for Williams, a 2006 Pro Bowler who was thrown to only twice in Sunday's 34-14 loss to the St. Louis Rams and did not register a catch. While addressing the team's approach to improving the roster, the Birds' president took yet another swipe at the Cowboys. "Our goal is to win a Super Bowl, forget win a playoff game, which is something they are still working on,'' Banner said. Dallas, which defeated the Eagles 41-37 Sept. 15, have not won a playoff game since 1996."

Never mind the Super Bowls.

The point is that Jerry Jones let the DETROIT LIONS rob him blind. Three draft picks to rent a WR? Idiotic. Considering Williams was a free agent and was likely destined to Dallas in March anyway.... wow.

Be careful folks.... Jones may very well lead himself and the franchise down the same path that Al Davis is taking the Raiders....

Just a couple of little wrinkles...

1) We were going to use our #1 on a WR likely anyways in the draft.

2) Roy coming here in FA was no gimme...I'm sure other teams like SF would put up a fight.

3) We already have Cleveland's 3rd rounder(it was OUR 3rd rounder we gave away), so no harm.

4) We netted back 2 2nd day picks(#5 and #6) from Pacman getting suspended, so with 2 6th rounders now, we had some leverage.

5) The Lions also gave us a 7th rounder as part of the deal.

So if anything, it turned out OK for us. We didn't give up the huge amount as we thought we did.

All this from the same fanbase whose team has probably the worst history in the NFL. You're telling us to be careful after your team couldn't fight it's way out of a paper bag for nearly 30 years. Shut up!

Now you're getting it.

We had a crappy owner from '76 to '95, when Malcolm Glazer purchased the team. Ownership has an effect on the team, and Jerry Jones is trying to re-create the magic of the early 1990's, much like Al Davis is trying to re-create the magic the Raiders had late 1970's early 1980's. Those were a special group of men, the Cowboys assembled.

You learn from history. You don't try to re-create it.

I remember how intense it got in Bucs land in '02-the Glazers wanted Parcells, Tuna wanted to come on board(even willing to keep Kiffen on board), signed the contract, then backed JUST PRIOR to the NFL Commissioner's office approving his contract. It took them like a good month to sign a coach, until they traded with the Raiders for Gruden?

I always wonder how it would have turned out if Parcells had been the coach instead. He probably would have stuck with the offensive philosophy Dungy already had in place(not the WCO-style Gruden implemented, of course). I also remember Warren Sapp not being too happy about the idea of Parcells coming on board.

Parcells wanted to keep Kiffin, but Kiffin probably wouldn't have stayed. And that would have meant the 3-4 in Tampa, and Warren Sapp a ticket out of town.

It was. Many of our fans still love Tony Dungy, and many were happy he won that ring with the Colts. We know what he brought to our franchise, and those same fans were sad to see him go in '02.

But it was GM Rich McKay who wanted Parcells, when the Glazers told McKay that he was not an option. Allegedly. The Glazers wanted to keep Kiffin on, and wanted a coach to take over the offense, so they went ahead and pryed Gruden from the Raiders. That led to McKay bailing soon afterwards.

And that trade killed our depth (2 first rounders, 2 second rounders in consecutive drafts) for a few years and, IMO, the reason behind our '03-'06 seasons.

WE still have 9 Draft Choices and a possible 2 more coming from Julies Jones and Jacques Reeves plus we got our pick back from Tenn for Pacman's suspension, we were hardly robbed blind.

I'm glad you have that comfort blanket, but you guys have been relatively poor at getting good talent in the second round and latter. Marion Barber and Jason Witten are studs, but there isn't much else. Bradie James is ok.

But you guys have made a living hitting homeruns with your first round picks of late.

While I can appreciate Banner's "here and now" tone and he has a point that might make the Eagles riff-raff fanbase snicker, yes, we have not won a playoff game in over a decade.

But, apparently he has failed to look in the Eagles Trophy Case and see the complete lack of Lombardi Trophies.

He's also failed to look at what Roy has done against his team. "I wouldn't pay that much for a player like that"? Roy has absolutely destroyed them.

But thanks for the bulletin board material, Joe.

It's a valid argument.

Why else do you think their most famous sports figure was a movie character?

Sorry.

If a team needs "bulletin board" material to get up against a division opponent..... and an opponent like the Eagles.... you got bigger problems.

That's why coaches like Coughlin and Belichick use it all the time, because it's worthless. Right?

I'd be pleased if "all" we accomplished this year was a playoff win.
