Eagles exploring trading A.J. Brown

A 2027 3rd, at best.
Get ready to be surprised

As they always some how get good compensation!!

Sounds about right crazy because some on here think bass is worth a 2nd lol
What compensation you get isn’t always about the talent of the player. You are trading for a contract and a player. That contract makes a huge effect on what the player is worth in a trade

Maybe 1 - 4th round pick. Salary cap dump.
it's not a salary-cap dump because it would cost them more to trade him, then keep him. They aren't trying to trade either.

Howie Roseman, the Philadelphia Eagles' general manager, has addressed rumors about potentially trading wide receiver A.J. Brown multiple times recently, particularly during the NFL Scouting Combine in late February 2026. Trade speculation has swirled due to factors like Brown's past frustrations with the offense, reports of trade requests from his side, and the team's offseason roster evaluations.

Roseman has consistently emphasized keeping great players while leaving the door slightly open for extraordinary offers. Key quotes from his recent comments include:
  • "We're in the business of keeping great players and A.J. is a great player. A.J. is a difference-making player for our team. He's been on our team for four years. We’ve been to playoffs all four of those years, won a Super Bowl, been in two Super Bowls, he’s a captain on our team. And so, you’re not looking to get rid of players like that. [...] Now, the chances that I'm doing that [trading] with a great player, they're not very high."
  • "We're trying to get better, and it's hard to do that if you're just subtracting great players."
  • He has said the Eagles are not actively shopping Brown or putting him "on the block," but he will always listen to offers for any player as part of assessing the market and doing what's best for the team long-term.
Reports indicate the Eagles have an high asking price (e.g., a first- and second-round pick) if any deal were to happen, signaling they're not eager to move him cheaply. Roseman has also noted Brown fits into the vision for the offense under the new coordinator.

Overall, his stance is that trading a star like Brown is unlikely and would only be considered for a massive return that improves the team—addition by subtraction isn't the goal. This aligns with his philosophy of building around elite talent rather than dismantling it.

From the take I get down here there's a chance he could be traded, but that same chance goes for Carter, Cooper DeJean, and Quinyon Mitchell to. If someone wants to give a lot of draft picks as Roseman said for any player he'll listen. I think he says that every year.

I have to think a trade is inevitable now. Can’t put the genie back in the bottle with the world knowing you’re exploring trade options.

I don’t see how he would play nice after this.
You beat me to it..........he's done as an Eagle

I think they are willing to overpay (5.8m) to take the chance that someone will give a 2nd for him. You don't think he could be signed for less?
I think our front office is playing checkers and the rest of the League is playing chess.
I think this is an outright over pay.
I mean the dude was a backup.

It's high for a backup but he has been pretty good when he's had to step in and could be a starter on some other teams, I think. Maybe not good enough for a 2nd round pick but ya never know, some GM might think he is and the only way that happens is if Jerry is willing to give him that money.

He's done there........once the toothpaste is out of the tube with AJ Brown kind of player, you can't put it back in. Howie is setting this up for a pre-draft trade. My guess is he will use it to move into the top 10-15.

Cowboys backed by the genius duo of Jerry and Stephen will get AJ Brown. Thinking that 3 all star receievers is surely the recipe for a SB that has unfairly eluded them over the years.

Ugh, this is one of those nights where I so can't stand this team and the fans on this forum for being so bleeeeeping blind to the fact that you have an absolute loser GM running this franchise. You will never win another SB with the Jones morons in charge.

hang in there pal. Some fans think jerry is a new man and things have changed.
So maybe this is our year. What say you?

Imagine trading a star player before the draft.

Why isn’t Howie waiting until six days before the first regular season game. Is he stupid?

Isn’t the cap hit $47 million if they trade him now? If they’re going to take that hit they are giving up on 2026.
They have a $70m better cap position than the cowboys and the best GM in football.

If we keep hearing that even Jerry and Stephen can find room, how could the Eagles possibly not be able to find a way.

He has a pretty good case for wanting out, I rarely side with players throwing tantrums to get paid etc. But having a QB that can barely throw for 150 yards and leaning completely on the running game and defense has to be soul destroying for him.
they made him a multi all pro and sb champ lol

If they trade him after June 1, they save 7MM on the cap. But prior to that they get hit hard.
Trading A.J. Brown before June 1, 2026, would result in a massive $43.5 million dead cap hit for the Eagles, while a trade after that date allows them to split that $43.5 million over two years ($16.3M in 2026$27.2M in 2027), per Yahoo Sports and Eagles Wire.

Either way they are getting pounded by the cap.

Him and Hurts contracts are similar in that regard and why ive continued to maintain neither is going anywhere.

If Eagles pull off a trade it will be for maybe a 2nd and have the other team absorb half the hit, or something similar. Nobody is taking a 40 million dollar hit and then giving away 1st round picks.

My only question, and thing that could change that is....does this mean the team who trades for him takes the life of his old contract? If so it makes sense for that team to take on all the guaranteed money. Thats not the norm though, and im not sure why it isn't.
