Believe me, the Eagles are not a better team without Donovan McNabb. But they are not going to resign him and the Rams are not going to pay a safety $7-8 million a season while they are in rebuild mode.

Furthermore, the Rams coaching staff is extremely familiar with McNabb, they don't have to dish out a $40 million signing bonus to a rookie QB coming off of shoulder surgery and the shelf. That's an extremely risky proposition for any team.

Plus the Rams can move down still a few spots for whoever wants to fight over Suh if they don't or Bradford. They'll have a starting QB for the next 3 seasons and depending where they want to sit with their pick have the choice of either stud DT to build their D around. Heck, they may be able to move down twice and still get McCoy because other teams could be fighting over Suh, Bradford and/or Okung.

Rams are doing themselves good things, it's a win win for both teams only because the Eagles and McNabb are supposed to be parting ways anyhow and the Eagles get a good amount for a player with 1 year left and is in his 30's but still productive.

Rams would be dumb to do that - they need to start younger and having McNabb gobble up minutes while a draft pick sits on the bench would be dumb.

They almost have to take a QB at #1 because of the financial impact.

The eagles won't either.

You have got to be kidding me.

We lose out on another FS. yay. Good job jerry. You better be getting us Earl Thomas as a present for sitting through this trashy offseason.
ANother night, another Slate over reaction and over dramatized meltdown.

Dude, the Rams are in full denial here.

BTW our offseason so far has rocked. Jerry is executing his off season plan perfectly.

We have not lost out on anyone, so chill some.

Even though they might get Atogwe, I'm still happy that the Eagles are trading mcnabb

I think its a good move for the Eagles.

High 2nd rounder and a potential good player. Pretty hard to beat that.

McNabb will hold no value in a couple of years. Sell him while you can and move forward.

ORLANDO, Fla. _ St. Louis Rams general manager Billy Devaney said reports Wednesday by the Philadelphia media that St. Louis was offering its second-round pick and safety Oshiomogho Atogwe for Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb: “Absolutely false.”
Devaney added: “It’s utterly ridiculous. I haven’t talked to Philadelphia about any of their players.”
Another Rams source said of the Eagles, “They may have a trade offer, but not from us. Why would we trade for McNabb and then go watch Bradford throw on Monday?”
Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford, whom the Rams are considering with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, has his pro day on Monday.
Atogwe currently cannot be traded since he’s not under contract. He was given the lowest possible tender as a restricted free agent, but has not signed that tender.

See Bold. I guess a sign and trade could happen but that would leave the bonus on Stl Louis unless Philly offered cash to make it up.

I have news for the Beagles.

Terence Newman and Mike Jenkins took McNabb's toys away from him, three times.

My, how the Beagles stab their own in the back, right after they "loved McNabb last year" when they beat us to end the year and made the NFC Championship Game.

Then, things don't go their way, and they get out the daggers.

How could any player play for them and trust them?

This would be a steal for the Eagles. For the Rams, it would be downright stupid. Eagle fans are acting like the won the SuperBowl with this potential trade. I do believe Kolb will be a really good QB for them. We should hope McNabb stays.

The only big loss I see would be McNabb actually leaving the division. Atogwe is damaged goods.

Truths. This man speaks them.
