Eagles' Justice lands new deal
By Matt Mosley
It wasn't long ago that offensive tackle Winston Justicewas an eyesore to Eagles fans. He was a reminder of a second-round pick gone wrong and it appeared that he would finish his career in another locale.
But an injury to Shawn Andrews cleared the way for Justice to revive his career and now he has been rewarded with a four-year contract extension worth $18.15 million, including a signing bonus worth $6 million, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Justice has only made 11 NFL starts but he has apparently played well enough to warrant this type of extension.
Justice was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after this season and he likely would have generated some interest. The Eagles decided to lock down Justice because there's a chance he could be the long-term solution at right tackle. If that happens, then we'll look back on this as a very safe investment.
It's not like Justice has been incredible this season, but he has been the least of the Eagles' worries. And by the way, here's the column I wrote about Justice last Thursday. He credits his spiritual faith for turning his career around.
